Starting Salary Range: $65,000 to $95,000\. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Position Summary:
The GCVS Assistant Director of Business Services is a proactive professional who serves as the primary "right hand" to the Director. This individual is a highly engaged, self\-starter who thrives in a fast\-paced primarily virtual environment, balancing detail\-oriented business operations with sensitive human resources tasks. By anticipating needs and executing projects with precision, they play a critical role in the GCVS business office functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
All duties are performed in a shared and collaborative spirit with the business office team. Teamwork and transparency are keys to productivity and efficiency.
- Payroll \-
- Processing payroll data, ensuring hours worked, pay rates, deductions, and benefits are correct.
- Ensuring payroll is processed in compliance with state, federal, and contractual guidelines.
- Preparing payroll reports as needed for internal and external review.
- Submission of deduction reports for MTRS reporting
+ Work with the business office team:
+ Accounts Payable/Receivable \-
- Work with the business office team:
- Reviewing Accounts Payable/Receivable process and procedures
- Processing invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests in accordance with policies. Confirming accuracy of amounts, coding, and budget availability.
- Issuing invoices in accordance with policies
- Maintaining organized and detailed accounts payable/receivable files for auditing and reporting purposes
- Financial Planning, Reporting and Compliance
- Work with the Director of Business Services:
- Human Resources
- Onboarding and offboarding staff
- Processing retirement paperwork for MTRS
- Ensuring that all personnel, medical records and other employment records and files are maintained in hard\-copy and/or electronically in accordance with applicable laws and contract agreements.
- Assisting administration with inquiries and support related to licensure.
- Completion of annual letters of assurance for all school year and at\-will employees.
- Conducting wage/classification studies and market research when necessary.
- Overseeing Open Enrollment as well as the administration of the health and dental benefits, life insurance, and other benefit Accounts for all school employees
+ Manage financial affairs and reporting for GCVS.
+ Budget management to meet GCVS, state, federal and Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requirements.
+ Budget planning and development, long\-range financial planning
+ Complete all required state and federal financial reports.
+ Maintain accurate accounting records and supports year\-end closing processes.
+ Oversee records for student activity accounts, revolving accounts, donation accounts, and various grant accounts.
+ Assist with fiscal year\-end closing and audit.
+ Work with the business office team on all Human Resource related functions including:
+ Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of three to five years of experience in School Business Department/Municipal Finance Department
- Working knowledge of Department of Elementary and Secondary Education accounting requirements
- Proven ability to manage multiple high\-priority projects simultaneously without sacrificing accuracy or detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive interpersonal situations with diplomacy, empathy, and professionalism.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, synthesize, and present complex information clearly.
- A "can\-do" attitude with the willingness to pivot between HR tasks and business operations as the needs of GCVS shift.
- Brings a solution\-oriented mindset and vibrant energy to the team, even under high\-pressure deadlines.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to an evolving virtual working environment.

- Professional Experience: 35 years of experience in a high\-level administrative, business, or HR role, preferably within a school district or public sector environment.
- Advanced skills in Google Workspace and experience with school financial/HRIS software
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- Residing in Massachusetts is strongly preferred, with the ability to travel to the GCVS Office/Student Support Center in Holyoke, MA, as required for office support, key work assignments, and meetings.
