- Serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and external visitors; provide professional and courteous customer service and direct inquiries to appropriate personnel
- Manage incoming phone calls, voicemail, and departmental email accounts, responding to general inquiries related to admissions, advisement, scholarships and fellowships, level restrictions, and forms
- Perform daily receptionist duties, ensuring efficient front office operations
- Create, compose, and edit written communications in a clear, professional, and courteous manner
- Collaborate with Graduate Studies staff to support services for graduate students and program operations
- If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
- All regular, non\-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US\-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Possess knowledge of the UNM campus, graduate programs, and websites.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to operate effectively with a team.
- Intermediate skill level with using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Working knowledge of using Zoom or a similar meeting hosting platform.
- Be dependable, professional, and can promote graduate student success.
- Be customer\-focused and committed to delivering a positive customer experience.

Position Summary
Graduate Studies serves as the central academic administrative unit for graduate education at the University of New Mexico. We partner with academic departments and administrative units across campus to promote the quality of graduate programs, enhance student success, and ensure broad access to graduate education. We provide comprehensive student support services, including information on scholarships and fellowships, as well as program support for graduate programs university wide.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and work experience reflecting a substantial history of successful customer service\-related administrative employment. Those with demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience providing event and/or travel planning services to professionals will be a definite plus. The ability to communicate and interact with a diverse cross\-section of individuals calmly and professionally and articulate ideas in a clear and understandable manner is critical. The successful candidate will work closely with other staff supporting graduate students and be responsible for managing daily receptionist duties.

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
