Job Title: Healthcare Claims and Accounting Clerk

Location: Remote (U.S.\-based)

Reports To: Finance Lead

Position Summary:

The Healthcare Claims and Accounting Clerk is a hybrid role responsible for supporting both claims processing and financial operations within a healthcare administration environment. This position ensures claims are processed accurately while also supporting invoicing, payment posting, and reconciliation activities.

This role is ideal for someone who is detail\-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working across both claims and accounting functions. The ideal candidate brings working knowledge of healthcare claims processes and the ability to manage high\-volume data entry and financial transactions with accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:Claims Processing Support:

Review and input incoming healthcare claims for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility.

Assist with claims adjudication, including processing, payment, denial, or return of claims based on plan provisions and guidelines.

Research billing issues and claim discrepancies.

Support responses to provider, member, and internal inquiries via email and internal systems.

Maintain accurate claims records and assist with reporting as needed.

Accounting \& Financial Processing:

Process invoices for payment and maintain vendor records.

Post payments and track reimbursements from insurance carriers and other sources.

Reconcile claim payments against accounts and identify discrepancies.

Assist with account reconciliation and ensure financial data accuracy.

Support preparation of financial reports and documentation.

Perform high\-volume data entry related to claims and financial transactions.

General Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable privacy regulations.

Manage multiple workflows, deadlines, and priorities with strong attention to detail.

Collaborate with claims, finance, and operations teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Identify and flag discrepancies or process gaps.

Qualifications:Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED required.

3\+ years of experience in healthcare claims processing, accounting support, or related administrative work.

Experience in a TPA, health insurance, or healthcare billing environment preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Working knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare claims processes.

Familiarity with invoicing, payment posting, and account reconciliation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Experience with claims processing systems and/or accounting software preferred.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment:

Fully remote position (must have reliable internet access and a quiet workspace).

Scheduled within the following timeframes to incorporate a 40\-hour work week, with a full 8\-hour workday.

Operating Hours:

Monday–Friday: 7:00 a.m. CST – 5:30 p.m. CST

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. CST – 4:00 p.m. CST

Sunday: 8:00 a.m. CST – 12:00 p.m. CST

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $20\.00 – $26\.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
