The Divisions of Cardiovascular Medicine and Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PCCS) at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) seek an experienced board\-certified or board\-eligible Cardiologist or Pulmonary/Critical Care specialist with expertise in Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) to lead our expanding Pulmonary Hypertension Section as an ongoing joint venture between these two Division within the Department of Internal Medicine. The OSU pulmonary hypertension program is a highly regarded, multidisciplinary, large\-volume program that serves all of Central Ohio. Team members provide inpatient and outpatient care for patients with all forms of pulmonary hypertension, as well as patients with a history of acute and/or chronic pulmonary embolism. Highlights of the program include a multidisciplinary team approach, trainees from both cardiology and pulmonary/critical care programs, a CTEPH program that offers both surgical pulmonary endarterectomy and balloon pulmonary angioplasty, and an integrated clinical research team that supports both investigator\-initiated and industry\-sponsored studies. The Pulmonary Hypertension program is supported by full\-time dedicated APPs, nurse coordinators, research coordinators, and pharmacists. This position focuses on continued program growth and the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and longitudinal management of patients with Pulmonary Hypertension. The successful candidate will have advanced training and expertise in the diagnostic evaluation and evidence\-based treatment approaches to pulmonary hypertension. Right heart catheterization training is a plus, but not necessary. This position will contribute to the continued growth and advancement of a multidisciplinary Pulmonary Hypertension program within a nationally recognized cardiovascular service line. In addition to leading the PH section, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to non\-PH clinical services in cardiology or pulmonary/critical care, as appropriate for their background.

  • MD or DO
  • Completed Fellowship and Board Certification in either cardiovascular disease or pulmonary and critical care medicine.
  • Additional training or demonstrated clinical expertise in Pulmonary Hypertension or Pulmonary Vascular Disease.
  • Eligible for an Ohio License
  • Experience with clinical trials is necessary; extramural research funding is desirable
  • Qualify for an academic appointment at The Ohio State University – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate
  • with previous training and experience, but we anticipate that the successful candidate will qualify for appointment at an advanced rank (Associate Professor or Professor, with or without tenure) in the Department of Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine

    The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine

    The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, led by Division Director Dr. Jeffrey Horowitz, boasts a broad array of clinical opportunities with sections of general pulmonary and critical care medicine, pulmonary hypertension, transplant pulmonary medicine, sleep medicine, and interventional pulmonary medicine that are complemented by clinical, translational and basic research programs and robust educational opportunities. The Division has experienced substantial growth in clinical operations and its research enterprise over the last six years, and the Division is now home to more than 75 faculty, 28 clinical fellows, and 10\-15 post\-graduate research trainees (post\-doctoral fellows and graduate students).     Faculty Defined

    Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) \- Persons with titles of assistant professor\-clinical, associate professor\-clinical and professor\-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

    Tenure\-Track faculty (regardless of rank) \- Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure\-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.

    Research Faculty (regardless of rank) \- Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
