Duties Description The Registered Nurse 2 (Geriatrics) will coordinate, direct, and provide professional nursing care to residents of the nursing home under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Nursing/Director of Nursing. The Registered Nurse 2 (Geriatrics) will develop, update, and monitor nursing care objectives in treatment plans for individuals and administer nursing treatments. They will help develop and participate in nursing orientation programs which include education and training needs for nursing staff. They will review records and discuss staff and program requirements with facility managers. The incumbent will also serve as a member of various committees and workgroups concerned with individual treatment and care issues or topics.Notes: 1\. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Transfers: Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent\-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 18 or above, and that is eligible for transfer under Section 70\.1 of the Civil Service Law to Registered Nurse 2 (Geriatric). Open Competitive HELPS qualifications: Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and two years of post\-licensure clinical nursing experience working with a geriatric population.Minimum Qualifications Substitution: A bachelor’s degree in nursing can substitute for one year of post\-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master’s degree in nursing can substitute for two years of post\-licensure clinical nursing experience. Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience in a long\-term care facility.
