Duties
- Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate ICD\-9, ICD\-10, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis\-Related Group) codes
- Prepare and submit accurate claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection processes to ensure timely resolution
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and patient eligibility prior to billing
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies
- Stay current with changes in medical coding guidelines, including updates to ICD coding systems and CPT codes
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to accurately interpret clinical documentation
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for efficient data entry and claim submission
- Expertise in ICD\-9, ICD\-10, CPT coding, and DRG classification for proper billing procedures
- Experience with medical billing processes, including claim preparation, submission, and follow\-up
- Ability to navigate medical records efficiently while maintaining confidentiality and compliance
- Excellent attention to detail to minimize errors in coding and billing activities
