- Assists in the operational functions of purchasing, stocking and distributing commodities and supplies for the Police Department.
- Receives and prepares special shipments, UPS and Freight shipments; notifies specific departments of delivery.
- Prepares and submits purchase requisitions.
- Prepare travel authorization and registration forms.
- Aids in maintaining vendor relationships for the continuous supply of quality products.
- Outfit uniforms for uniform personnel.
- Completion of dispositions for uniforms and equipment.
- Maintains records and reports, weekly and monthly product updates, and product inventory reports.
- Maintains complex filing systems within the division.
- Maintains active communication with the Purchasing division staff to define required tasks that will support departmental administrative functions.
- Participates in current and new product reviews to determine appropriate product purchasing, distribution, and development.
- Performs administrative support duties, e.g., data entry, and records maintenance.
- Reviews information for product procurement.
- Perform inventory and purchasing software conversions as needed.

- Knowledge of generally accepted standard purchasing principles, established procedures, departmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements applicable to the work.

Examples of Duties
Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to assist the administrative functions of purchasing, and coordinate the receiving of commodities and supplies for all divisions. Employees in this job classification function at entry level to aid in maintaining vendor relationships for the continuous supply of quality products. Work includes maintaining basic commodity buying, records and reports, weekly and monthly product updates, and product inventory reports.
Typical Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED. Two (2\) to three (3\) years experience in the administrative support functions of purchasing, accounting, inventory or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Physical Requirements
The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

* This is a designated "Recovery" classification in the City's Emergency Operations Plan and will require the employee occupying this position to work for declared emergencies. Completion of appropriate level of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training is mandatory within one year of employment.
