Position Title: Technical Support Assistant – WIC \& Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program
Reports To: Nutrition Access Programs Specialist
Supervision Requirements: None
Hours: Temporary, part\-time; May through November 2026, 9\-12 hours per week, mainly on weekends
- 9am\-1pm/2pm in\-person at a Saturday farmers market (Hayward or Grand Lake)
- 8am\-1pm or 9am\-1pm/2pm in\-person at a Sunday farmers market (Marin, Newark, Stonestown, or Clement Street)
- 1\-2 hours per week remote work
- Provides excellent customer service and accurate information to farmers and shoppers participating in the WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Programs.
- Ensures that program signage is posted at the Information Booth and the booths of participating farmers.
- Provides tech support, troubleshooting, and training as needed to ensure transaction readiness.
- Assists farmers in applying for authorization to accept WIC and Senior FMNP payments.
- Assists farmers and employees with payment processor setup.
- Collects data on customer/farmer interactions, common questions, and unresolved tech issues; relays information to the Nutrition Access Programs Specialist for follow\-up.
- Supports Nutrition Access Programs Specialist with outreach efforts to encourage eligible farmers to become authorized to accept WIC and Senior FMNP payments.
- Maintains excellent relations with vendors, customers, and staff
- Occasionally supports market staff with answering customer questions, operating other nutrition benefits programs, and other duties as assigned
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Spanish and/or Chinese language proficiency highly preferred
- Familiarity with smartphones and online payment processors
- Familiarity with WIC program and/or Senior FMNP a plus
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain calm, handle details, and multi\-task in a busy environment
- Self\-starter with outgoing, sunny personality and a sense of humor
- Excellent punctuality and attendance
- Availability to work on Saturdays AND Sundays from 8am\-2pm, additional availability on Thursdays a plus
- Must have reliable transportation to and from AIM’s farmers markets
- General understanding and/or sincere interest in food and farming
- Ability to stand and walk in an outdoor environment for extended periods of time
- Ability to maintain safe and sanitary conditions in a busy environment
- Adhere to all AIM Health and Safety policies and procedures, as well as those related to the rules and regulations as they pertain to our customers and vendors.
- Administer duties as defined by the AIM performance review plan within the required deadlines.
- Attend required meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Follow all administrative organizational policies and procedures.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality related to vendors, staff, Board and other AIM information.
Availability to work 8am\-1pm in\-person at the Thursday Marin Farmers Market a plus, but not required*
Locations: San Rafael, Oakland, Hayward, Newark, San Francisco; weekly assignments may vary
Salary Range: $21\-$23, expected hourly rate of $21 per hour

JOB SUMMARY
The Agricultural Institute of Marin is seeking 2\-3 bilingual (English \+ Spanish / English \+ Chinese) Technical Support Assistants to provide in\-person support to farmers and shoppers participating in the WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Programs (FMNP). WIC FMNP and Senior FMNP provide funds for income\-eligible California families and seniors to purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables at California Certified Farmers’ Markets. These programs transitioned from paper vouchers to an electronic payment system in 2025\.
Tech Support Assistants will attend AIM’s Saturday and Sunday farmers markets to provide information and transaction support to farmers and customers participating in WIC and Senior FMNP. Tech Support Assistants will track commonly asked questions and unresolved issues, relaying these back to the Nutrition Access Programs Specialist for follow\-up. Tech Support Assistants will also support as needed with at\-market operations of additional nutrition access programs, such as CalFresh and Market Match.
This is an entry\-level position with potential for a career pathway in farmers markets operations, agricultural education, or local food systems strategies.
