This Accounts Receivable Clerk position is assigned a portfolio of payers. They are responsible for the ongoing follow up and collection of all claims billed to payers within this portfolio. Identifying payer trends, resolving claim denials and minimizing Accounts Receivable aging are crucial for success. Established collection goals are expected to be met on a monthly basis.
The candidate for this position should be able to work independently and within a team environment. The ability to develop and maintain, collaborative relationships with customers and within the team is expected.
This position is full time (40 hours / week), Monday \- Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8\-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am \- 5:00 pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
This will be paid on\-the\-job training. The hours of the training will be based on schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Communicate internally to resolve reasons for not payment (Billing, Client Management, etc.)
- Work with Cash Applications/Billing/Client Management
- Research and resolve collections problems and discrepancies
- Effectively communicate with internal business users and customers
- This individual should perform required tasks independently and seek support from manager for clarity as needed, as well as contribute in a team environment
- Research and resolve collections problems and discrepancies
- Collect on past due claims
- Follow\-up on status of outstanding claims every 30 days
- Follow\-up on denied claims within 30 days of denial
- Follow\-up on account balances \> $10,000 every 2 weeks
- Meet cash goal at least 75% of the time annually
- Address all outstanding UR weekly by taking the appropriate steps to move money to invoices, UG, or refund
- Report monthly on all accounts with aging \> 90 days
- Report monthly on all payers with accounts \> $10,000 \> 90 days
- Determine root cause of unpaid claims
- Ensure all accounts on payer projects are due to the project issue(s) and code accounts appropriately
- High School Diploma / GED
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- 2\+ years of experience in medical claims collections
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Effective communicator
