Position: DATA ENTRY CLERK

Requires open availability, including evenings and weekends.

Status: Reports to the Category Assistant Manager \- Perishables

Pay Level: II, non\-exempt.

Purpose: To support the Produce Department and Category Assistant Manager – Perishables by ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent data entry and maintenance within the Point of Sale (POS) system.

The Data Entry Clerk is a detail\-oriented and highly organized team member responsible for entering, updating, and auditing product and pricing data, with a primary focus on supporting the Produce Department and Category Assistant Manager – Perishables.

This role focuses on maintaining item accuracy, pricing integrity, and cost data, allowing department teams to operate efficiently and meet margin and merchandising goals. The position plays a critical behind\-the\-scenes role in supporting daily store operations through strong attention to detail and reliable execution.

  • Responsibilities

    DATA ENTRY \& POINT OF SALE MAINTENANCE

  • Update pricing, cost changes, and item details based on invoices, vendor catalogs, and department direction.
  • Regular delivery of costing information to Senior Fresh department managers to facilitate accurate retail updates.
  • Maintain accuracy of produce and perishable item files, including scale integration where applicable.
  • PRICING \& COSTING ACCURACY

  • Monitor invoices and vendor communications to ensure current and accurate cost data.
  • Audit item pricing and cost data regularly to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Ensure packaging and additional costs are reflected appropriately in item setup.
  • Update Department Order guides with vendor cost info weekly.
  • REPORTING \& DEPARTMENT SUPPORT

  • Generate and maintain spreadsheets for yield testing, costing, and margin tracking.
  • Support the Produce and Category teams with data requests and reporting needs.
  • Help identify discrepancies or inconsistencies and escalate as needed.
  • Run weekly reports for Fresh Departments and Category Leadership.
  • Review and correct the Fresh Department Shrink reports weekly.
  • COLLABORATION \& COMMUNICATION

  • Work closely with Fresh Department leadership and the Fresh Category Assistant Manager to prioritize tasks.
  • Coordinate with other Category Management staff to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • SYSTEM \& ORGANIZATION

  • Maintain organized records and documentation for data entry processes.
  • Follow established SOPs and contribute to improving data workflows where applicable.
  • Ensure high levels of confidentiality regarding pricing, cost, and vendor information.
  • ALL STAFF DUTIES

  • Uphold all Co\-op policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative attitude.
  • Support Co\-op values, including community, equity, and sustainability.
  • Attend and participate in department and storewide meetings.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Category Assistant Manager.
  • ESSENTIAL

  • 1\+ year of experience in data entry, administrative support, or retail systems work.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage repetitive tasks with consistency and focus.
  • Ability to meet weekly deadlines and time\-sensitive updates.
  • Comfortable working independently with clear direction.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members across departments.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • FUNCTIONAL

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Repetitive use of hands for typing and data entry.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • PREFERRED

  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems, pricing systems, or inventory processes.
  • Understanding of margin, costing, or pricing structures.
  • Natural and local foods (retail, wholesale).
  • The ability to speak Spanish, French, or Swahili is a plus.
