POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Deputy Assistant for ATRC, and along with the Executive Director, provides the strategic leadership and administrative oversight necessary to ensure the organization has the appropriate operational controls and personnel systems in place to fulfill its mission. This role is responsible for the day\-to\-day management of ATRC’s core programs—including device loans, demonstrations, reuse and the HAT (Hawaii Assistive Technology) Loan Program—while supporting the Executive Director in managing additional contract programs, grant reporting and community liaison and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
1\. Operational Leadership \& Management
· Oversees the daily operations of the Honolulu headquarters and coordinate
services across neighbor island satellite sites with AT Manager.
· Supervises New Staff, Part Time Staff, and contracted vendors fostering a culture of professional growth and accountability.
· Together with the Executive Director, leads the implementation of the ATRC Strategic Plan, ensuring all program goals align with the organization’s mission.
2\. Program \& Contract Compliance
· Ensure compliance with the federal Assistive Technology Act and State of Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS/DVR) contract requirements.
· Manages the collection and reporting of data for the National Assistive Technology Act Data System (NATADS) with the AT Manager.
· Oversees the Hawaii Assistive Technology (HAT) Alternative Finance Loan Program, working with banking partners to maintain accessible financing options for Hawaii residents.
3\. Fiscal \& Administrative Oversight
· Collaborates with the Executive Director to develop and monitor the annual $1M\+ budget.
· Identifies and pursues new grant opportunities and diversified funding streams to expand ATRC’s impact.
4\. Community Engagement \& Advocacy
· Represents ATRC at statewide conferences, legislative hearings, and community events to advocate for digital equity and AT access.
· Strengthens partnerships with the State Rehabilitation Council (SRC) and other disability\-led organizations in Hawaii.
· Serves as the primary liaison to the ATRC Advisory Council.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Non\-Profit Management, Business Administration, Special Education, Rehabilitation Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred);
OR Experience: 5\+ years of senior management experience, preferably within a non\-profit or disability services environment.
Knowledge: Extensive understanding of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and the AT Act. Familiarity with the specific geographic and cultural nuances of Hawaii’s service landscape.
Skills:
· Proven ability to manage diverse teams and complex federal/state contracts.
· Strong financial literacy and experience with non\-profit accounting.
· Excellent public speaking and written communication skills.
· Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, data analytics, and—naturally—a wide range of assistive technology devices.
Work Environment \& Physical Demands
Standard office environment in Honolulu with possible travel to neighbor islands (Maui, Kauai, Hawaii Island).
Must be able to lift and transport AT equipment (up to 40 lbs.) for demonstrations and community events.
Requires a valid Hawaii Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Pay: $25\.00 \- $31\.00 per hour
