AKG Design Studio is a luxury interior design firm based in Northern Virginia, specializing in bath, kitchen, and whole\-home design remodeling. We are seeking a detail\-oriented, creative, and proactive professional to join our team on a part\-time basis. This is a hands\-on role that sits at the intersection of studio operations, client experience, and brand marketing.

THE ROLE

As our Office \& Marketing Assistant, you will keep the studio running smoothly behind the scenes while also helping us show up beautifully in front of our audience. You don't need a design background — but you do need to love words, systems, and making things happen. You'll be the connective tissue between our vendors, clients, contractors, and community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Studio Operations \& Administration

  • Organize, catalog, and maintain the materials library, including fabrics, finishes, tile, and other samples
  • Manage calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate project timelines
  • Process purchase orders and track product lead times through to delivery and installation
  • Coordinate logistics with contractors, vendors, and delivery teams
  • Support day\-to\-day studio administrative needs
  • Track order statuses, flag delays, and proactively communicate updates to the design team
  • Build and maintain organized vendor records and contact databases

  • Light Bookkeeping \& Accounting

  • Reconcile and log vendor invoices, client payments, and project expenses in a timely and accurate manner
  • Track outstanding balances, follow up on overdue payments, and flag discrepancies to the principal designer
  • Maintain organized financial records and support basic reporting using accounting software (Xero experience a plus)
  • Marketing \& Content

  • Develop and manage content for social media platforms (Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn)
  • Draft blog posts, email newsletters, and other written marketing materials that reflect the AKG voice and brand
  • Assist with planning and executing studio events, open houses, and client appreciation gatherings
  • Support PR and media outreach, including coordination with publications and brand partners

  • EXPERIENCE \& QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience

  • 2–3 years of combined experience in office administration, marketing, or a similar support role
  • Proven track record managing competing priorities in a fast\-paced, client\-facing environment
  • Experience in interior design, architecture, real estate, or a creative services firm is a strong plus, but not a must.R
  • Requirements include lifting, carrying, or moving objects up to 30\+ pounds
  • Driver license and reliable transportation is a must
  • Marketing (All Required)

  • Social media management — hands\-on experience running business accounts on Instagram, Pinterest, and/or LinkedIn
  • Email marketing — experience writing and managing newsletters or client communication campaigns
  • Content writing — strong written communication skills with the ability to write in a polished, on\-brand voice across blogs, captions, and marketing copy
  • Event planning \& coordination — demonstrated ability to organize and execute client\-facing events, open houses, or brand activations from concept to completion
  • Office Administration \& Tools

  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar) — required
  • Experience with a CRM platform for contact management and client communications — required
  • Basic bookkeeping skills; familiarity with Xero or similar accounting software is a strong plus
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills for client, vendor, and partner interactions
  • A proactive, self\-directed work style with strong attention to detail and a high standard of follow\-through
  • Interest in design, luxury lifestyle, or aesthetics is a plus — but not required
  • COMPENSATION \& DETAILS

  • Part\-time, approximately 20 hours per week (flexible scheduling available during work week only, no weekends)
  • Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience
