Position Summary:The Full Charge Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the complete accounting cycle of the Company. This role independently oversees all financial transactions, general ledger activity, payroll processing, compliance filings, and financial reporting.
The Full Charge Bookkeeper serves as the primary internal accounting authority and partners directly with leadership and external CPA firms to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This is a fully in\-office position.
Full\-Cycle Accounting
- Maintain and oversee the general ledger, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Manage month\-end and year\-end close processes.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, including Profit \& Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
- Ensure proper revenue recognition and expense classification.
- Monitor and maintain internal financial controls.
- Oversee full AP/AR processes, including invoice coding, approvals, payment processing, and collections.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate aging reports and cash flow projections.
- Process payroll or manage third\-party payroll provider.
- Ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws.
- Manage payroll tax filings and related compliance requirements.
- Prepare and maintain 1099 documentation and annual filings.
- Oversee sales tax filings and other regulatory submissions.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Monitor company cash flow and provide reporting to leadership.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Serve as primary liaison with external CPA firm.
- Prepare documentation for annual tax filings and audits.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Provide leadership with timely financial reports and insights.
- Support strategic planning with financial data and projections.
- Identify process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.
- 5\+ years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Proven experience managing full\-cycle accounting independently.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles.
- Experience preparing financial statements without direct supervision.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience processing payroll and handling California payroll compliance.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and integrity.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast\-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and professional discretion.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience in a small to mid\-sized business environment.
- Experience supervising junior accounting staff (if applicable).
