  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full\-time employees, including mental health coverage.

  • Position Highlights

    The Lincoln County Circuit Court in Newport, Oregon, is hiring a Court Operations Specialist to clerk for the Honorable Marcia Buckley.

    In this role, you will support the judge by announcing the start of court, swearing in witnesses, and processing exhibits. You will digitally record the courtroom proceedings, maintain logs, and keep the official court record. You will also ensure the security of the courtroom and be our jury bailiff during jury trials. This work includes swearing in jurors, monitoring juries during deliberations, and arranging for meals. When hearings are remote, you will facilitate and record the online proceedings.

    Additionally, you will perform data entry, prepare a variety of court orders and judgments for criminal and civil cases, and scan documents. You will provide forms to customers related to diversion petitions, sex offender registrations, and driver’s license suspensions. You will also provide customer service in person, over the phone, and in writing by answering questions about courtroom operations and the status of cases.

    You will spend part of your time providing coverage for Judge Buckley’s judicial assistant and clerking in other courtrooms, including the Mental Health and Wellness Specialty Court, as needed.

  • Working Conditions

  • This is a full\-time position, and the work schedule currently is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
  • Occasional after\-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Frequent phone and in\-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in\-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma, including people who may be confrontational, argumentative, or hostile.
  • Long periods of sitting or standing to complete work assignments.
  • Must be able to pull, bend, and twist, as well as lift items that weigh up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: electronic recording equipment, telephone, OJD\-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
