    This position serves as the Traffic Court Coordinator Supervisor within the County Criminal Division. This is a professional, responsible, administrative, and supervisory position involving comprehensive knowledge of the court system and associated court management practices. The position provides administrative support with respect to the daily operations and management of the County Criminal and Traffic Division.

    The primary responsibilities include managing the daily operations of the Traffic Court Coordinator Unit, including preparing staff assignments to ensure that all Civil Traffic Infraction Courtrooms are properly staffed. Duties also include providing back\-up assistance to judges when requested and ensuring that new hires are properly trained prior to courtroom assignment. This position oversees the Juror Transport Unit, by confirming daily staffing, verifying timesheet submissions, and reviewing transportation logs. Responsibilities further include maintaining knowledge of judicial and hearing officer weekly calendared court sessions. Additional duties include administrative oversight such as reviewing and approving timesheets for unit personnel, assisting with special projects assigned by the Division Director, Assistant Director or Administrative Judges, and serving as a back\-up to the Civil Traffic Hearing Officer Liaison.

    The position reports to the County Criminal and Traffic Division Director (Senior Court Operations Consultant), and works independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

    Responsibilities

  • Manages functions and activities of 12 Traffic Court Coordinators (TCC).
  • Assigns, directs, supervises and reviews work of TCCs, including when, TCC staff work remotely, by visiting courtrooms or joining remote court hearings.
  • Coordinates TCC coverage for Senior Judges assigned to our division, when other court specialists are not available.
  • Coordinates Civil Traffic Infraction Court schedules with the Civil Traffic Hearing Officer (CTHO) Liaison, Calendar Administrator and Drive Legal Program Manager for TCC needs.
  • Prepares and distributes digitally weekly TCC assignment of courtrooms.
  • Coordinates TCC court coverage for vacation/sick time as necessary.
  • Provides TCC assistance upon request by Human Resources Office (HR), due to unavailability of vendor court specialists.
  • Coordinates interviews with Human Resources and all personnel matters.
  • Attends virtual court hearings.
  • Processes uniform requests for Traffic Court Coordinators.
  • Coordinates monthly staff meetings.
  • Manages functions and activities of (2\) Juror Transport Unit staff.
  • Assigns, directs, supervises, and reviews chart of jurors transported daily.
  • Prepares and posts, weekly schedule assignment of Juror Transport staff.
  • Distributes, as needed, reminders to judiciary and staff informing of availability of juror transport service as well as providing written procedures.
  • Keeps monthly statistical reports and reviews daily juror transport staff entries of jurors transported.
  • Analyzes pending Infraction Backlog Report to determine available sessions needed for the week.
  • Manages weekly caseload for Civil Traffic Infractions (Including the Online Case Resolution (OCR) cases).
  • Sets cases on the Calendar Work Bench automated system, reviews and ensures the accuracy of the setting, making changes when necessary.
  • Utilizes the Consecutive Setting to fill in sessions not already set by the Calendar Workbench to maximum capacity, utilizing police officer’s schedules.
  • Coordinates and assigns weekly schedules for Hearing Officers to ensure court coverage, based on their reported availability.
  • Provides backup support on (SPIRIT) related matters for Judicial Assistants, Judges, and Traffic Hearing Officers, including assistance with login credentials.
  • Serves as back\-up in the absence of the Director or Assistant Director to address requests from the judiciary or executive office.
  • Serves as back\-up to the staff member that handles Americans with Disabilities Act requests, that are received from litigants for court proceedings, within the division for all traffic related matters.
  • Serves as back\-up for facility related matters, directs to the building manager or procurement such as requests for cleaning, replacing lights, and other matters.
  • Serves as a point of contact for communications concerning the activities and operations of the division; provides information to, and answers questions from judges, attorneys, court officials, and the public.
  • Participates in the development of narrative and statistical reports.
  • Approves county payroll submitted by Traffic Court Coordinators including juror transport.
  • Provides trouble shooting for the division regarding SPIRIT and court related issues that arise during proceedings, including Zoom for remote hearings.
  • Collaborates on special projects as needed.
  • Qualifications

  • ------------------
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, psychology, criminology, social work, law, or a closely related field.
  • Four (4\) years of related work experience.
  • + A Juris Doctor degree may substitute for up to three (3\) years of related work experience.

  • Two (2\) years of supervisory experience.
  • Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year\-for\-year basis.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of laws, court rules, procedures and legal documents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relations with the judiciary, court administration, other court personnel and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally and through presentations.
  • Ability to make work decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and handle individuals who are under stress with courtesy, tact and patience.
  • Ability to supervise people.
