Purpose of your Job position

The primary purpose of your job position is to plan organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that an on\-going program of activities is designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well being of each resident.

Delegation of Authority

As Activity Director, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Position Requirements

A Qualified Activity Director must meet one of the following conditions by being:

A Qualified Occupational Therapist,

A Qualified Occupational Therapist Assistant,

A Qualified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist\*,

A Qualified Activities Professional\*.

  • A Qualified Therapeutic Recreational Therapist or Qualified Activities Professional is defined as an individual who is licensed/registered in the State of Florida and who is eligible for certification as a Therapeutic Recreational Therapist or Activities Professional by a recognized accreditation body.

OR

Have two (2\) years experience in social or recreational programming within the last five (5\) years, one (1\) year of which was in a full time inpatient activity program in a health care setting;

OR

Has completed a training course approved by the State of Florida.

Experience

Must have, as a minimum, one (1\) year of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long\-term care facility, or other related health care facility.

Prefer at least one (1\) year experience in an activity program position in a Nursing Home. This would not apply if the individual was utilizing the experience requirement for the position.
