Purpose:

The AmeriCorps crew member position will work alongside the crew leader to promote the health and resilience of our land, air, and water. With the goal of leading our nations back to ecological and cultural well\-being.

Standard schedule generally consists of Monday – Friday, 8\-hour workdays, plus occasional overtime. Crew Members may also be required to come into the office to complete administrative duties and check\-ins with program staff.

The AmeriCorps crew member position requires patience, a consistently positive mental attitude, mentorship, technical aptitude, focus on efficiency, and a high level of competence in the outdoors. It also involves an administration role, where weekly paperwork is due in a timely manner to supervisors. Finally, AmeriCorps crew members must exhibit the ability to effectively work on dynamic teams and those from a variety of communities.

Description of Duties:

The AmeriCorps crew member will work on a small team to manage the Hubbell Trading Post NRA's agricultural operations. This position will work alongside the park service personnel to assist with planting and maintenance of the interpretive kitchen garden located behind the historic Hubbell home and the main field that is at the park entrance and irrigate and weed the agricultural fields as needed. Boundary and interior fence maintenance, as well as assisting with Gunnison Prairie Dog exclusion fencing and associated tasks. Maintaining the historical landscape through pruning trees, raking leaves, and mowing the lawn in front of the Hubbell Home. Additional duties may include assisting in the livestock management of the animals on site.

Qualifications:

• United States citizen, United States national, or a lawful permanent resident alien
• At least 17 years of age
• Has received a high school diploma or equivalency certificate; or has not dropped out of elementary or secondary school to enroll as an AmeriCorps participant, and agrees to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to using the education award
• Agrees to provide information to establish eligibility and to complete a National Service Criminal History Check.

Time Requirements:

• Typically, this position is expected to serve May 4th, 2026, to December 11th, 2026, but exact service schedules may vary. A half\-hour lunch break will not be counted towards AmeriCorps service
• Member may be required to participate in national, state, or local service projects or events as part of their service term.

Orientation and Training:

• Member will receive an orientation that includes training on AmeriCorps prohibited and unallowable activities.

Evaluation and Reporting:

As an AmeriCorps member, performance will be evaluated on whether the member has completed the required number of hours, the member has satisfactorily completed assignments, and if the member has met other performance criteria that were clearly communicated at the beginning of the term of service.

Reporting requirements include, but are not limited to, bi\-weekly timesheets and accomplishment tracking.
