- 7\-bed NICU within a 174\-licensed\-bed community teaching hospital (community schools of nursing only)
- Patient population consists primarily of grower and feeder infants, 32 weeks gestational age and above; patients requiring a higher level of care are transferred to a larger facility
- Common procedures include bubble CPAP management and newborn stabilization
- RN\-to\-patient ratio is 1:2, occasionally 1:3 depending on staffing
- Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- 12\-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation is unit\-dependent; every\-other\-weekend rotation is not required
- No on\-call requirements for travelers
- Travelers are not required to float; those with pediatric or other unit experience are welcome to volunteer to float
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 1 year of NICU experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- Strong NRP skills and comfort with stabilizing neonates required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidate's permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Travelers attend core delivery team support but are not required to catch babies at high\-risk deliveries
- Departmental support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse, case manager, 24/7 RT, 24/7 hospitalist, on\-call neonatologist, lactation consultants, remote tele monitoring, and telemedicine for virtual consults
- Orientation consists of facility orientation at an off\-site center plus 2 precepted departmental shifts
- Scheduling is done in 6\-week cycles
- Holiday coverage is voluntary; travelers are welcome to volunteer for holidays but are not required
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any hours missed must be made up by extending the contract
- Facility\-provided surgical scrubs required

- Former employees who held a permanent position at any facility within this health system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
