KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under supervision of an attending neonatologist and following established protocols, manages care for neonates who are suffering from moderate health conditions or are recovering from more serious conditions.
- Attends and assists with routine and high\-risk deliveries for neonates in collaboration with larger medical team.
- Collaborates with other health care professionals to identify and stabilize the at\-risk infant and establish a care plan.
- Assesses patient by obtaining comprehensive perinatal history.
- Performs physical assessment of body systems and interprets findings.
- With required physician supervision, may perform or order diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for newborns.
- Thoroughly documents all aspects of patient care using established charting procedure.
- Serves as a consultant on the care of chronically ill infants or those with complex medical problems.
- Assists with family education.
- Assists in outreach education activities by teaching classes.
- Assists in staff orientation and serves as a preceptor.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
- Completion of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) program, Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (AC\-PNP) program, or Physician Assistant (PA) program.
- Can have experience working as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner or physician assistant in ICU or ICU\-like setting.
- Currently licensed as an acute care advanced practice provider in the state of Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body or Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- At least one year of direct experience in neonatology is preferred.
- BLS and NRP certifications are required.
- Master’s prepared Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with APRN licensure in GA
- Master’s prepared Physician Assistant with APRN licensure in GA
- Related experience preferred.
