A Brief Overview

The Social Attention and Language (SoAL) Lab led by Dr. Julia Parish\-Morris at the Center for Autism Research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia maintains a dynamic scientific portfolio focused on language, social communication, and social behavior in autism and related conditions. Working at SoAL provides the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of collaborators to conduct innovative, breakthrough scientific research that improves the lives of stakeholders and families.

We are seeking a full\-time Clinical Research Assistant I (CRA I). A 2\-year commitment is preferred.

The ideal candidate is highly organized and self\-motivated. The CRA will organize data processing workflows, monitor undergraduate students, and support clinical study tasks simultaneously. The ideal candidate possesses an analytical mind and has interest in language development and social communication in clinical populations across the lifespan.

CRA duties may include but will not be limited to: assisting with study administration, virtual and in\-person; maintaining accurate records; organizing data collected through paper or online questionnaires and tests; compiling and processing large quantities of data under the direction of the principal investigator; performing data entry, coding, and analysis such as coding/transcription of audio recorded data; entering testing data into databases and/or spreadsheets; statistical analysis of data using analytical software (e.g., R Studio) and Excel; assisting with IRB protocol amendments, poster presentations, and publication preparation (including conducting literature reviews, creating figures, etc.).

The CRA will work as part of a multi\-disciplinary team composed of developmental psychologists, linguists, speech\-language pathologists, clinical psychologists, physicians, and computer scientists. SoAL is a collaborative environment; we are looking for a self\-motivated team player with excellent problem\-solving and interpersonal skills to support our research efforts. Prior experience with some or all of these duties is a plus but is not necessary; many CRA duties can be learned on the job. Successful applicants will be fast learners who enjoy working in a bustling research environment.

What you will do

  • Provide technical and administrative support in the conduct of clinical research:
  • Patient/research participant scheduling
  • Patient/Research Participant screening for inclusion/exclusion criteria or case history
  • Data collection
  • Data entry
  • Data management
  • Laboratory sample processing
  • Clinical research study procedures or questionnaire administration
  • Organization of research records and/or other study related documentation
  • Research Study Compliance
  • Adhere to IRB approved protocols and compliance with HIPAA and handling confidential materials
  • Comply with Institutional policies, SOPs and guidelines
  • Comply with federal, state, and sponsor policies
  • Additional Responsibilities may include:
  • Consent subjects, with appropriate authorization and training
  • Document and report adverse events
  • Maintain study source documents
  • Complete case report forms (paper and electronic data capture)
  • Assist with IRB/regulatory submissions
  • Complete case report forms or other study documentation (paper and electronic data capture)
  • Follow\-up care
  • Order materials/supplies
  • Schedule research meetings
  • Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, linguistics, or similar, with prior research experience. Preferred
  • Experience Qualifications

  • Previous relevant clinical research experience Required
  • At least one (1\) year of relevant clinical research experience Preferred
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with IRB and human subject protection.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a team.
  • Functions independently and proactively in a clinical research setting.
  • Effectively prioritizes and meets deadlines, while paying attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and problem\-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to respond quickly in a fast\-paced environment.
  • Interest in research data relating to children and adolescents with autism or other developmental conditions and their families.
  • Statistical knowledge and interest; ability to use/learn statistical software packages (e.g., R, SQL, Python).
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, REDCap, and/or other database software.

SALARY RANGE:

$20\.55 \- $25\.69 Hourly
