EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This position performs daily, month\-end, and year\-end accounting procedures and administrative purchasing functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides accounting support and training to the school building level bookkeepers and secretaries.
Assists with month\-end and year\-end accounting procedures. This includes preparing account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and general journal entries.
Assists with capital asset accounting. This includes updating the capital asset listing for additions and deletions, tracking construction in progress, and maintaining the depreciation schedule.
Assists with the development and monitoring of line\-item budgets. Preparing budget to actual reports.
Reviews and approves the weekly accounts payable batches.
Assists with grant accounting and reporting.
Verifies credit card transactions are supported by adequate documentation.
Creates purchase orders, submits purchase orders to vendors, reviews account coding and compliance with District policies.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting. Minimum qualifications include an associate degree in accounting or considerable experience in bookkeeping (minimum 3 years).
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical to the success of this position. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from all levels of the organization, including staff, principals, and central administration.
ANALYTICAL and REASONING SKILLS
Possesses well\-developed analytical and reasoning abilities, enabling effective assessment of complex data and informed decision\-making. Self\-motivated and driven, with a proactive approach to taking initiative.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
Individual must be proficient in excel and word. Experience with accounting software is beneficial.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Normal office physical demands. May periodically have moderate physical demands and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Generally, employee works inside.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Will perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent or designee, necessary and appropriate to achievement of the program and/or District goals and objectives.
