DVHopeline Swing and Data Advocate

This is a remote position for WA state residents. Applicants will need a private, quiet space at home from which to provide confidential advocacy services to program contacts and check\-ins with DVHopeline advocates.

The DVHopeline (DVHL) is King County’s 24/7 centralized domestic violence advocacy support line to anyone experiencing domestic or intimate partner violence, as well as concerned friends, family, or community members who are looking for more support. The vision for the DVHopeline is that each contact will advance survivors’ journeys to autonomy, safety, and freedom, and strengthen our communities’ resolve to end gender\-based violence.

SUMMARY: This is a new position that will serve as a DVHopeline Advocate as part of their core job responsibilities, while also supporting the Assistant Director of Advocacy and Data and other DVHopeline leadership to complete data\-related tasks and projects as needed.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Advocacy and Data

HOURS: 36 hours per week, remote, 4\-day work week; Thursday\-Sunday from 2pm\-11pm, 9\-hour shifts. This is a full\-time non\-exempt position.

COMPENSATION: $34\.26 per hour

  • WORK DUTIES/ROLE:

    Advocacy

  • Provides advocacy support to contacts through call and chat who have experienced gender\-based violence to address their long\-term and short\-term advocacy needs.
  • Staffing the DVHL requires an advocate to navigate conversations around providing gender\-based violence education and support contacts who have experienced sexual violence or commercial sexual exploitation.
  • Explores additional service needs of contacts and facilitates appropriate referrals to relevant gender\-based violence and other organizations.
  • Incorporates survivor\-centered, trauma informed and culturally responsive best practices into supportive services.
  • Provides gender\-based violence information and prevention to contacts.
  • If bi or multi\-lingual, provides support in non\-English languages to phone and chat contacts, and coordinates with interpreter services for DVHopeline callers as needed.
  • Ensures that services embody anti\-oppression principles and promote equity for BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S\+ survivors, and survivors from other traditionally marginalized communities.
  • Integrity when it comes to data entry and ensuring entries are aligned with DVHL procedures for documentation needs of contacts.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of Western Washington community resources for the benefit of contacts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to receive and implement feedback for growth and learning.
  • Actively contributes to a positive, remote team environment to ensure the collaboration needed for provisions of high\-quality services to contacts, peers, and leadership.
  • Actively participates in 1:1 supervision, DVHopeline shift meeting, trainings, and other remote activities as required.
  • Attend and document live and self\-study trainings to ensure compliance with the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) annual training requirements for domestic violence advocates by program deadline.
  • Complete administrative or other tasks as requested by DVHL leadership, exhibiting flexibility and responsiveness to unanticipated needs during assigned shifts.
  • Complete Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) applications, Domestic Violence Coordinated Housing Access Point and electronic referrals for contacts.
  • DATA:

  • Work closely with the DVHL leadership to support data integrity, reporting, and program evaluation efforts.
  • Assist in compiling monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal DVHopeline leadership. This can also include additional community programming reporting needs that can inform service improvements and strategic planning.
  • Complete quarterly data reports for established MOUs with community partners, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and submit finalized reports to the Assistant Director of Advocacy and Data for review and distribution.
  • Ability to independently assess missing or unclear data to the Assistant Director of Advocacy and Data for follow\-up and clarification.
  • Stay informed on compliance requirements related to mandated reporting, grant guidelines, and data collection standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold advocate and contact privacy standards in all data collection, storage, and reporting practices.
  • Support continuous development of data processes by providing feedback where documentation systems can be improved.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of one year of providing domestic violence advocacy and demonstrated knowledge around housing advocacy, gender\-based violence education, legal advocacy, safety planning and parenting support.
  • A minimum of one year of experience providing data reporting and/or performing data entry in a timely manner is preferred.
  • Proven extensive experience navigating community systems and resources in metropolitan Western Washington, especially King and Pierce Counties.
  • Proven project management, analytical and problem\-solving skills and ability to be flexible.
  • Proven facilitation and conflict resolution skills and ability to exercise considerable independent judgment and skill.
  • Willingness to learn about and promote equity and social justice within and outside of New Beginnings.
  • Ability to work individually in a self\-directed manner and as part of a team and promote teamwork among staff.
  • Ability to maintain participant confidentiality.
  • Ability to use personal supervision constructively for support and growth.
  • Willingness to become proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, OneNote, Word Document and Excel

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at time.

Pay: $34\.26 per hour
