We are looking for a capable, enthusiastic, and organized HR Assistant to join and support our team in our Hooks facility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain accurate and complete personnel files and employment documents in compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
- Maintain accurate data in HR systems for payroll, health and welfare benefits, and retirement plan.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of employees by reviewing time cards and processing payroll.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of retirement plan contributions by entering contributions into 401(k) recordkeeper’s system.
- Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding with supervisors by introducing new employees to the organization, assisting with paperwork and coordinating required training.
- Facilitate new hire benefits enrollment and employee benefits changes.
- Coordinate job postings and candidate screening with hiring managers.
- Serve as initial point of contact for general Human Resources questions and issues, communicating with and escalating to Head of HR.
- Facilitate workers compensation and disability claims by exchanging information with carriers.
- Provide timely response to unemployment claim inquiries by Texas Workforce Commission.
- Prepare reports as required by corporate offices and governmental agencies.
- Maintain office equipment in working condition.
- Maintain adequate office supply inventory.
- Distribute incoming mail and assist with outgoing mail as needed.
- Assist with accounting entry by entering invoices for payment.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to adapt to the immediate needs of the company and its employees.
- Ability to take and follow directions and instructions
- Basic knowledge of or ability to learn human resource management principles, best practices and employment law
- Excellent organizational skills to manage a variety of competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office: intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Two years’ experience with Human Resource administration responsibilities.
- One year payroll processing experience.
- Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
- Must have a valid driver license.
- Knowledge of Paycor
- Knowledge of federal employment law
- Knowledge of U.S. government contractor HR requirements
- Must be able to maintain composure in dealing with management, employees and vendors at all levels, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
- Will perform majority of duties in office with occasional exposure to hazards of production environment requiring protective equipment.
- May be required to work overtime without advance notice.
- May be required to independently move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to move about the office to use equipment.
- Must be able to utilize keyboard.
- Must be able to see, hear and speak.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
