The Department of Agriculture seeks an experienced facility manager for the position of Bureau Chief, Buildings and Grounds. This position is an integral part of the team that provides the day\-to \-day operation and maintenance of all facility management functions on the Illinois State and Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. Essential Functions

  • Serves as Bureau Chief for the Bureau of Buildings and Grounds, performing highly responsible managerial functions in determining policy for the operations of the Illinois State and DuQuoin State Fairgrounds and any other Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) property.
  • Serves as full\-line supervisor.
  • Develops and implements standard operational procedures, policies and techniques to support IDOA with quality facility management services.
  • Directs program budget and controls the allocation of expenditures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to (4\) four years of college in business management, property management, facility management or related field.
  • Requires (4\) four years of progressively responsible administrative work experience in business management or facility management of a public or business organization.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers experience with facility management operations including livestock facilities and racetrack maintenance.
  • Prefers experience in financial management including development and management of budgets.
  • Prefers experience in public administration including interaction with internal and external governmental stakeholders.
  • Prefers experience working with small business owners and diverse business owners to foster an inclusive and competitive business environment.
  • Prefers experience with public speaking.
  • Conditions of Employment

  • Requires completion of a name\-based background screening and self\-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license. Overnight travel may be required.
