In this fast\-paced position, you will serve as the frontline representative, providing outstanding patient service, managing medical records, and supporting clinical staff with administrative tasks. Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and facilitate patient intake processes with professionalism and compassion
- Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) Athenahealth
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance authorization and verification procedures, including Medicare and other third\-party payers
- Manage medical billing and collections efficiently, ensuring timely processing of payments and follow\-up on outstanding balances
- Maintain accurate medical records by reviewing documentation for completeness, coding accuracy (CPT, ICD\-9/10\), and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist clinical staff with preparing care plans, documenting patient encounters, and reviewing medical documentation for accuracy
- Operate multi\-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to handle patient inquiries, appointment scheduling, and follow\-up calls
- Utilize computer skills to update patient information, process referrals, and manage filing of medical records in compliance with health information management standards
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong familiarity in clinic operations and front desk responsibilities
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix is highly preferred
- Familiarity with medical coding including CPT codes and ICD\-10/ICD\-9 coding for accurate documentation review and billing purposes
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times
- Excellent customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette and clear communication abilities
- Strong clerical skills including filing, data entry (10\-key typing), and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
- Experience with dental terminology or dental office management systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is advantageous for dental clinics
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
