Duties Description The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) will assist the Physical Therapist in planning, directing, and administering physical therapy services in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations; Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of resident care plans, and resident assessments; prepare residents for treatment, instruct and supervise resident during therapy; teach basic living skills to residents as necessary; promote resident participation in individual and group recreational activitiesThe incumbent will help maintain departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control; provide necessary material/equipment for resident to perform required therapy; assist with the care, maintenance, and inventory of Department equipment and supplies; ensure that the therapy area is maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfort and convenience by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform such duties/services.The PTA will perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting and medical records; Assist in interviewing residents to evaluate daily living skills and capacities and determine extent of abilities and limitations; serve as a liaison with families and residents. interpret physical therapy policies and procedures to personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies; instruct resident and family members in home physical therapy programs as well as care and use of adaptive equipment. The PTA will also serve on, participate in, and/or attend various committees of the Home as required; provide guidance and training for new and/or less experienced personnel; maintain an excellent working relationship with the medical profession and other health related facilities and organizations. Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., to keep abreast of current changes in your field, as well as to build skills and enhance growth and development.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent\-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 18 or above, and that is eligible for transfer under Section 70\.1 of the Civil Service Law to Physical Therapist Assistant.
