Job Summary

The Church Secretary plays a vital administrative role in supporting church operations, ensuring smooth communication, organization, and record\-keeping. This position involves managing office tasks, assisting visitors and staff, and maintaining church schedules. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proficient with computer, and possesses excellent customer service skills to foster a welcoming environment for congregation members and visitors alike.

Responsibilities

  • Manage front desk operations, greeting visitors and callers with professionalism and courtesy
  • Answer phone, directing calls and taking messages accurately
  • Maintain church calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate events
  • Perform data entry, filing, and record\-keeping for church records and administrative documents
  • Support office management tasks including proofreading documents, managing correspondence, and organizing files
  • Assist with customer support inquiries from congregation members and the public
  • Manage office supplies inventory and coordinate procurement as needed
  • Provide clerical support such as typing, proofreading, and maintaining accurate records
  • Support personal assistant duties for church leadership as required
  • Requirements

  • Has a deep commitment to Christ and to the Lord’s Church
  • Proven office management or administrative experience, preferably in a religious or community organization
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Financial Data Base and data entry
  • Communicates effectively with a broad range of individuals in various circumstances and can maintain confidences
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently
  • Works with other staff members as a team
  • Exceptional phone etiquette and customer service skills
  • Clerical experience including filing, proofreading, calendar management, and document preparation
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management skills
  • Previous experience as a receptionist or personal assistant is advantageous
