Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is an entry level position in Environmental Health with a combination of field and office duties. This position is headquartered at the Levy County Health Department and will work between Dixie, Gilchrist, and Levy County Health Departments and will back up Dixie and Gilchrist County Health Department Environmental Health Clerical positions as needed. This position will work both in the office and out in the field. This position is supervised by the Environmental Supervisor I\-SES.

Office duties include assisting customers with applications, serving as initial contact for customers with questions related to environmental health. Serves as the primary contact for Environmental Health clients in the Levy County Health Department. Serves as the primary clerical and administrative support for the Environmental Health Director Levy County. Duties include answering the phone, assisting clients with questions regarding permitting and inspections and drafting and sending correspondence as directed by inspectors or the Environmental Health Director. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining filing and tracking systems that relate to environmental health programs. Additionally, the individual in this position will be responsible for billing and follow up and tracking related to environmental health programs. Maps applications received in the Basin Management Action Plan Areas and Primary Focus Areas. Prints map to file and notify inspector of BMAP location. Tracks OSTDS systems that are installed in the BMAP area. Maintains independent and computer files associated with these systems. Tracks maintenance and permitting of these systems. Tracks private and Limited Use water samples. Forwards results to inspector and client. Sends disinfection procedures and works with clients to get satisfactory samples. Packs and ships these samples on sample collection days. Scans OSTDS applications into the Carmody Data Base as completed and works with customers to locate historical records through this online third\- party computer gateway.

The incumbent in this position will perform inspections. Programmatic activities in the areas of water, mobile home parks, tanning, group care, animal bites and other activities not requiring professional certification may be assigned to this position. This individual will perform duties at the direction of the Environmental Supervisor I or his designee in Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy Counties.

Performs general labor/maintenance duties and preparedness related duties for the County Health Departments as needed and approved by the supervisor.

Serves as fleet manager for Levy County vehicles. Maintains a calendar of vehicles reserved or available for employee use. Issue keys and track keys. Maintain individual files on vehicles for required maintenance needs and tracks cost and repairs.

Serves as the Key custodian for Levy County Health Department. Organizes keys, Issues, tracks keys and responsible for obtaining additional copies if necessary. Also, maintains annual Key Custodian list of keys released to employees.

Performs other duties assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work independently, ability to be flexibility, ability to work in all types of weather, basic computer skills, knowledge of customer service, knowledge of working with the public, ability to multi\-task.

Qualifications:

Minimum – willing to work in all kinds of weather, willing to work between multiple counties, knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, basic computer skills, customer service experience, experience working a front\-line position dealing with the public, ability to multi\-task, ability to work independently.

Preferred\- Experience dealing with money, experience working with Environmental Health.
