### Research Aide II \- Mann Lab APPLY The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Research Aide to support dairy cattle research within the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences. This hands\-on position works closely with faculty, graduate students, veterinarians, and dairy farm partners to assist with animal care, on\-farm data and sample collection, laboratory processing, and research coordination. The role is ideal for someone with experience in dairy cattle and calf husbandry who enjoys contributing to research that supports animal health and dairy production. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist faculty, graduate students, and research staff with dairy cattle research activities and project coordination. Travel to local dairy farms to collect herd data and biological samples from animals and the environment. Provide daily husbandry and care for peripartum cows and neonatal calves enrolled in research studies. Maintain accurate research records, manage sampling supplies, and support training and communication with students, farm personnel, and collaborators. Employees working in the laboratory must receive the pre\-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department. Required Qualifications High School diploma and up to 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Experience working with dairy cows and calves. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities with minimal supervision. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with multiple different audiences (team members, students, veterinarians, etc). Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, for data entry, communication, and record keeping. Commitment to maintaining high standards of animal care and consistently following animal welfare and safety protocols. Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records, use sound judgment in decision\-making, and effectively solve problems and prioritize tasks in a research environment. This position will require successful completion of Cornell training courses for chemical safety and waste disposal along with CARE training for animal handling. Important Details about the Position This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY. This is a full\-time one\-year term position with potential for extension contingent upon funding and performance. We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.
