Urgent Surgery Associates, PA (“URSA”) is looking for a highly organized and detail\-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The Medical Office Assistant will provide administrative support primarily at a surgical practice that focuses on general and bariatric services. This position will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our medical office. Core hours are 9:00am \- 5:00pm Monday \- Friday in the Fort Worth Medical District, 76104\. Others may be assigned. Greet and assist patients in a courteous and professional manner. Answer telephone calls and respond to messages within the same day. Collect and verify patient information, including medical history and insurance details. Verify insurance coverage for surgical procedures. Work closely with insurance providers to obtain pre\-authorizations and verify billing information. Collect co\-pay, deductible, or other fees due at time of service. Provide patients with educational materials regarding general surgery procedures, recovery, and follow\-up care. Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and other office staff. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a coordinated and patient\-centered approach to care. Maintain accurate and up\-to\-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations. Coordinate and schedule appointments for pre/post\-operative appointments. Coordinate with Surgery Center staff to schedule appointments for general surgery procedures. Communicate with patients to ensure understanding of pre\-operative instructions and post\-operative care. Assist physicians by keeping them informed of office and surgery appointments. Ensure that necessary documentation and consents are completed prior to procedures. Manage phone calls, emails, and other communications related to general surgery inquiries. Handle administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry of procedure reports, and maintaining office supplies. Collaborate with other medical office staff to ensure seamless workflow. Stay informed about relevant healthcare regulations and compliance requirements. Adhere to all policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant medical office environment. Prior experience in insurance verification, preauthorization, and patient billing. Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently. Education / Experience: Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience preferred to perform the job. Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent Valid Texas Driver’s license and reliable transportation. Proven experience in a medical office/facility setting. Familiarity with insurance verification processes. Preferred: Associates degree or completion of a medical office assistant certification program. Healthcare Revenue Cycle Experience Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and documentation requirements. Experience in health education, patient navigation, and/or health clinic patient assistance field Bilingual Spanish with English is preferred.
