About the Institute for Population Health Sciences
The Institute for Population Health Sciences’ core mission is to advance population health sciences through scientific research, adaptive training \& coaching, \& partnership development to improve health and wellbeing of diverse populations. Established in 2022, IPHS is led by Dr. XinQi Dong, a population health epidemiologist and geriatrician, formerly Director of Rutgers University Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Henry Rutgers Distinguished Professor.
Job Summary
This Research Project Manager will work both independently and under the direction of IPHS leadership to manage research workflows, synthesize findings through scientific writing, leadership, and expand our community/stakeholder dissemination network. Although the Project Manager will work on a variety of topics related to population health, this individual should have an interest in community\-based research.
Project Manager’s main project will be to assist with current population health focused grants, grant submissions, and some community liaison activities. This position will also have a large role in stakeholder engagement and community outreach to build a network needed for community\-based population health research. In addition, the project manager would work with Research Assistants and collaborators on some items like literature reviews, research synthesis, survey interviews, data entry, data analysis and tabulating data outputs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Social, biomedical, psychological sciences, public policy, law and/or public health background
- Experience with scientific research and/or high\-level semi\-independent academic writing including published abstracts/papers, dissertations, and/or scientific presentations
- Interest in population health topics with a focus on health equity, community\-based participatory research and multi\-level factors in health
- Completed bachelor's degree in social, medical, psychological, public health or related health sciences
- Completed masters degree or some (1 year\+) graduate level training in PhD, ScD, JD, MD, and equivalent
- Previous experience within research organizations as a research assistant, project manager or executive level position
- Multilingual abilities, especially within Asian languages
- Grant writing, scientific publication, policy brief, white paper or similar experiences
- Experience with data analytics, specifically NVivo
- Prior experience coordinating with community/policy organizations, community building, or political organizing
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills
- Time Commitment: Part\-time position (20\-30 hours per week)
- Compensation: $25\-$30 per hour dependent on prior experience. Not eligible for benefits.
