JOB SUMMARY
The Academic Mentor supports students in navigating academic challenges, helping them remain engaged and progress toward degree completion. Rooted in the University’s mission, this role combines proactive outreach and individualized support for students with approved accommodation and/or students within their first two academic years at SNU.
The Academic Mentor encourages resilience, accountability, and self\-advocacy while connecting students to resources, programs, and a supportive campus community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Testing/Exam Proctoring (75%) \- During the Academic Year
- Receive exams/tests (electronic and paper copies) and any supplies/materials (e.g., scantrons, calculators) from professors/departments prior to scheduled exam date and time
- Serve as certified proctor of exams, ACCUPLACER, major field exams, CLEP, Classic Learning, and other testing as requested by institutional departments.
- Distribute and retrieve exams/tests (electronic and paper copies) and its supplies/materials (e.g., scantrons, calculators) to student(s) at appointment times.
- Preserving the confidentiality and accuracy of testing records and scores.
- Record number and type of exams each day.
- Manage supplies of the testing center.
- Arrange for assistive technology, texts in alternative formats, and other aides as needed in order to provide individualized accommodations for students. Holistic Student Support (25%) \- During the Academic Year
- Monitors Early Alerts in Navigate360 CRM system and provide individualized support and guidance to students through meetings, calls, and virtual interactions
- Connect students to tutoring, advising, RENEW counseling, financial services, LiveLast, and other campus or community resources
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress in institutional systems
- Contribute to a welcoming, supportive, and faith\-integrated campus culture
- Maintain Student Group “Tags” created in the System
- Develop Student Quick Polls; Report Results
- Support student engagement and routine operations of the campus’ student success technology platform \- Navigate360 which may include routine support and troubleshooting for students, faculty, and staff.
- Monitor Student\-Raised Alerts Administrative Support \- Summer Projects
- \- Greet and welcome visitors in a professional manner, Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls, while providing basic information to callers, and manage visitor sign\-in procedures.
- Role and Permission Audit in Navigate360
- Assist DS Advisor with setting up Educational Accommodations for incoming freshman, and returning students.
- Develop, evaluation, and implement action plan and comm flow for Student\-Raised Alerts
- Set up journeys in Navigate for students on academic probation.
- Develop action plans and comm flow based on responses recorded on the intake surveys completed by new users (incoming freshman, transfer students) downloading Navigate360 for the first time.
- Proctor CLEP Tests, Classic Learning Tests, as scheduled.
- Other special projects assigned by the AVP for Student Success and/or VP for Enrollment and Student Success.

- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of two years of related work experience and/or relevant training
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands in fast\-paced work environment
- Typing and spelling competency
- Experience with various computer software applications
- Data entry experience
- Technologically adept
- Experience in higher education
