Pastoral Team Assistant
Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church is looking for a Pastoral Team Assistant. There is flexibility
for this being either a fulltime or partime position.
As the Pastoral Team Assistant, the individual serves as a crucial support person for the Pastoral
Staff, ensuring proper planning, execution and follow\-up for all of our pastoral and communication
functions. The ideal candidate is a passionate missionary disciple who understands the pastoral
nature of administration as self\-gift and service to others.
As Pastoral Team Assistant, the individual is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient
operations for the Pastoral Ministry Team, providing support through database updates, registration
assistance, event coordination, communications support, and more. Actions required to be consistent

Ministerial Character
The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church
which the Archbishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ's mission present and enduring in the parish.
In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics,
religious, or laypeople). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Positions employed at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church help to extend the ministry of the
Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this
position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and
thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
Job Summary
As the Pastoral Team Assistant, this person applies professional skills and knowledge of several
specialized fields (e.g., theology, technology, clerical, development, communications, etc.) to
perform work as directed by members of the Pastoral Team. This individual works collaboratively
with the Director of Children Formation, YouthYoung Adult Director, Co\-Directors of
Evangelization, Director of Pastoral Care, and Director of Communications.
As the Pastoral Team Assistant, this individual is called to understand the inner workings of the
Pastoral Ministry Team and embrace the mission and vision of Mary, Queen of Peace in order to
effectively provide support and ensure the efficient functioning of all facets of ministry in order
to foster life\-changing encounters with Jesus. The Pastoral and Communications Executive Assistant
is an integral part of the team, focused on service above self.
The position reports to the Pastor, collaborates with the pastoral and administrative staff, and
operates with latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative. The Pastoral and
Communications Executive Assistant must understand the nature and purpose of Church administration
as well as catechesis, evangelization, and communications. This individual will be expected to
demonstrate good public relations skills, as well as communication and people skills.
Essential Duties: (Overarching)
An integral part of this ministry for the Church is to support and uphold the teachings of the
Catholic Church and the mission of the parish in both your professional and personal life.
Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in ongoing professional and personal faith
formation.
Ensure compliance with all Archdiocese of New Orleans policies and procedures including Safe
Environment protocols.
Participate in parish staff and diocesan meetings and training. Coordinate staff meetings and
follow\-up on action items as directed by the pastor.
Maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability and accessibility.
Essential Duties: (Pastoral Executive Assistant)
Support the pastoral staff in ensuring that all programs and activities align with the vision
and mission of Mary, Queen of Peace Parish.
Support multiple parish ministries (e.g., OCI, Alpha, Vacation Bible School, Bible studies,
CIC, PAX Youth) by learning their structure and providing administrative support (i.e data entry,
filing, copying, and organizing documents.) as needed.
Coordinate events and activities, including scheduling, logistics, making calls to vendors,
obtaining quotes, assisting with planning details, and communicating with volunteers at the
direction of the pastoral team.
Serve as the primary point of contact for emails and phone calls, providing clear and accurate
information regarding programs (registration, payment, requirements, etc.).
Maintain parish databases (including ParishSOFT and Flocknote), ensuring timely data entry,
accurate records, and updated communication groups.
Track registrations, attendance, and payments across ministries and events.
Send regular communications (e.g., emails for CIC, OCI, and Alpha) to support engagement and
organization.
Manage inventory and supplies, including ordering materials and organizing items such as
program resources and apparel.
Essential Duties: (Communications Executive Assistant)
Support the Director of Communications by helping manage daily digital and print output,
overseeing aspects of content creation, and assisting in event promotions.
In collaboration with and under the direction of the Director of Communications:
Manage social media, website updates, and other electronic media.
Design graphics, flyers, and print materials for events.
Ensure all communication aligns with the church's brand, style, and voice.
Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers for photography, videography, or media.
Work with the pastoral team to develop communication plans and promote events.

Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Skill in communicating with diverse audiences both oral and written.
Ability to operate various word\-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs.
Proficiency in creative tools and software coupled with excellent written and verbal
communication skills for creating engaging content.
Knowledge of or a willingness to learn social media platforms, web content management systems
(CMS), email marketing tools, photography, or live\-streaming technology.
Ability to excel in professional relationships and work effectively with staff, clergy, and
laity.
Ability to organize, prioritize, carry out multiple tasks, meet deadlines and utilize
effective time management techniques.
Ability to always maintain confidentiality.
Ability to follow instructions furnished in verbal or written format.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in theology,
management, pastoral ministry, or a related field is preferred.
Experience in pastoral ministry is preferred.
Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.
