Assigned to: Solid WasteJoin the City of Casper as an Assistant Solid Waste Manager and play a key leadership role in delivering essential services that directly impact our community. In this dynamic position, no two days are the same. You may assist with resolving customer concerns, analyze data for annual regulatory reports, coordinate capital projects with engineering and operations teams, or review daily revenue and operational reports. REPORTING STRUCTURE: Receives general guidance from the Solid Waste manager and higher\-level management staff.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

1\. Exercises direct supervisory authority over assigned division to include authorizes time\-off; approves payroll and hiring; coordinates staffing and operational activities; ensures that training and development is provided to staff; provides consistent accountability with disciplinary actions (as warranted), in addition to maintaining a healthy and safe work environment. 2\. Assists in the management, prioritizing, and assignment of activities for the assigned Solid Waste operations, services, and activities; provides administrative support to the Solid Waste Manager, prepares and presents operational plans and other necessary correspondence. 3\. Manages the activities for the assigned operations of the Solid Waste Division; identifies resource needs; recommends and implements policies and procedures; sets objectives and procedures for workgroups within the division. 4\. Provides strategic direction and leadership for assigned areas by setting clear priorities, aligning operational goals with departmental and organizational objectives, and ensuring consistent progress toward performance outcomes. 5\. Oversees and evaluates the operation and maintenance programs at the Solid Waste Facility and ensures the proper use and maintenance of said systems. 6\. Assists with budget preparation and administration; prepares recommendations and cost estimates and justifications for budget items; submits and approves invoices for payment, and monitors expenses to align with the budget allocated utilizing the City’s central financial software system. 7\. Assists in developing, planning, and implementing goals, and objectives for the assigned Solid Waste operations; ensures that operations are compliant with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.8\. Assists with monitoring plant operations, reviews, and assesses operational logs, records, and reports; inspects plant facilities and operations on a regular basis.9\. Prepares and reviews operational, regulatory, and financial reports; prepares, evaluates, and implements emergency response plans for the facility.10\. Keeps current on latest trends and innovations in solid waste operations, as well as environmental compliance with solid, stormwater and air permits.11\. Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.12\. Can include extended periods of sitting or lengthy periods of standing.Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.Incumbents typically work indoors in an office environment. Occasional fieldwork is expected in all weather conditions, and work in confined spaces or at heights may be necessary. Incumbents will be exposed to fumes, loud machinery noise, harmful chemicals, wet conditions, and electrical hazards. Work may require the use of personal protective equipment including hard hats, eye protection, hearing protectors, gloves, safety vests, and safety shoes. Incumbents may be required to drive to remote work sites to perform work.
