    Job Summary

  • Global REACH seeks an experienced administrative leader to serve as its senior manager, providing day\-to\-day operational leadership and ensuring high\-quality execution of strategic priorities across the University of Michigan and Michigan Medicine. This role manages administrative and operational objectives by leading people, processes, and projects that advance Global REACH?s mission and partnerships.

    The Administrative Manager Senior makes decisions regarding projects, programs, and initiatives that support objectives established by senior leadership and ensures compliance with relevant policies, protocols, and professional standards. Work results and recommendations have significant impact across the department and with institutional partners. The incumbent is guided by in\-depth knowledge of University policies and objectives and brings considerable professional experience, including prior management and supervisory responsibilities

    Responsibilities\*

  • ----------------------
  • Leadership \& Operations

  • Provide day\-to\-day leadership for Global REACH, including leading weekly leadership
  • and staff meetings and meeting regularly with staff to support coordination, prioritization,

    accountability, and problem\-solving.

  • Oversee the management of Global REACH activities, ensuring operational
  • effectiveness, customer/service responsiveness, and alignment with departmental and

    institutional goals.

  • Address routine administrative issues related to Global REACH operations, including
  • timesheets, purchasing, scheduling, and workflow improvements.

  • Develop, monitor, and improve processes to strengthen service delivery, operational
  • efficiency, compliance, and partner experience.

    Strategy, Representation \& Institutional Coordination

  • Represent Global REACH in strategy, planning, and coordination meetings; translate
  • priorities into actionable plans for the team.

  • Serve as a liaison between Global REACH and other U\-M schools, centers, and
  • administrative units, including the Center for Global Health Equity, the International

    Center, and other central campus partners.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for Global REACH platforms and for visiting
  • delegations, partners, and collaborators; coordinate logistics and ensure consistent,

    high\-quality engagement.

    Partnership Development \& Program Support

  • Support partnership development and coordination with faculty, departments, and
  • external partners; facilitate communication, timelines, and shared deliverables.

  • Oversee Global REACH\-facilitated processes, including student funding mechanisms
  • and related administrative workflows, ensuring fairness, accuracy, and adherence to unit

    and institutional guidelines.

    Financial Management \& Stewardship

  • Manage and monitor budgetary and gift accounts and funding mechanisms, including
  • Partnership Development Grants and other Global REACH\-facilitated funding.

  • Track spending, reconcile accounts, support forecasting, and ensure appropriate
  • documentation and controls.

  • Identify risks and recommend solutions related to budgets, compliance, and operational
  • sustainability; escalate issues appropriately.

  • Work with the University of Michigan development office to grow the gift fund portfolio
  • and align this with ongoing activities and future areas of expansion.

    People Management

  • Provide direct and/or indirect supervision of staff and responsible for subordinate staff
  • activities related to human resource management, including hiring, onboarding, training

    and development, performance coaching, disciplinary actions, and ensuring consistent

    application of organizational policies.

  • Plan and direct staff work; set expectations and priorities; appraise productivity and
  • efficiency; recommend promotions or other status changes; address complaints and

    grievances when necessary.

  • Build a collaborative, inclusive, service\-oriented team culture that supports staff growth
  • and high performance.

    Required Qualifications\*

  • Bachelor?s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Considerable progressively responsible professional experience in administrative/operations management within a healthcare, academic medicine, higher education, or complex matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated supervisory/management experience (including responsibility for hiring, performance management, coaching, and staff development); ability to supervise three or more FTE in an ongoing operational function.
  • Demonstrated financial management experience (budgets, accounts monitoring/reconciliation, forecasting, or stewardship of restricted funds such as gifts/grants). ? Strong judgment, diplomacy, and communication skills; ability to represent the unit with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes, manage competing priorities, and lead cross\-functional work.
  • Desired Qualifications\*

  • Master?s degree.
  • Experience working with global engagement programs, partnership development, visiting
  • delegations, or international collaborations.

  • Experience with Michigan Medicine/U\-M administrative systems (e.g., HR, procurement,
  • travel/expense, financial reporting) and policy\-driven environments.

  • Proven success managing multiple funding mechanisms and supporting selection/award
  • processes (e.g., student funding, internal grants).
