The Quarto Group is seeking a Marketing \& Publicity Assistant to support the promotion of titles across the Quarto Adult publishing program. This role works on a wide range of illustrated nonfiction books in categories including art, craft, gardening, design, transportation, and more.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail‑oriented, digitally savvy marketer who is passionate about publishing and eager to grow their experience in book marketing and publicity. The position supports both traditional and digital campaigns, assists with department operations, and collaborates closely with the adult marketing team.
This role is based in our New York, NY office with a hybrid in‑office/work‑from‑home schedule.
### Key Responsibilities
#### Marketing \& Publicity Support
- Assist in the execution of digital marketing plans, including social media campaigns, email marketing, and influencer outreach.
- Support planning and execution of social media marketing across all major platforms for Quarto Adult titles.
- Draft press releases, advertising copy, media kits, pitch lists, and supplemental marketing materials.
- Organize and manage award submissions for adult titles.
- Build and maintain academic and library contact lists for adoption and outreach campaigns.
- Plan and execute book mailings and giveaways, maintaining a highly organized database of media and industry contacts.
- Assist the VP of Marketing and Director/Assistant Director of Marketing \& Publicity with tracking, analyzing, and reporting on marketing campaign results.
- Communicate marketing initiatives, updates, and accomplishments internally across departments.
- Handle additional administrative and departmental support duties as needed.
- Highly creative, with an interest in exploring innovative marketing ideas.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Self‑starter with the ability to follow through and execute efficiently.
- Digitally savvy, with strong familiarity and current knowledge of social media platforms and trends.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow as the role and organization evolve.
- Strong interest in and passion for the publishing industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud and Box/Dropbox preferred.
- Prior publishing experience a plus, but not required.
- Relationships or experience with independent bookstores a plus.
