Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail\-oriented and motivated Patent Assistant to join and support our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting patent attorneys, assistants, and our docketing team. This position entails providing patent prosecution support to multiple attorney teams, backing up our docketing team, managing deadlines, drafting documents, billing, and maintaining digital filing systems. This role is critical in organizing tasks to ensure support is provided throughout the office. Top tier training will be provided on all aspects of the position, including USPTO and WIPO efiling systems, patent searching systems, and utilizing our robust systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of responses to U.S. Office Actions.
- Assist with IP docket entries and handling of correspondence.
- Assist with preparation of patent application documents and formal papers.
- Proofread and file patent applications and Office Action responses.
- Handle incoming mail and email, and track deadlines.
- Manage client databases and status updates.
- Respond to client inquiries as instructed.
- Use MS Office and other firm applications and systems.
- Assist with client billing.
- At least 3 years of related experience.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) and ability to efficiently learn new software.
- Ability to effectively learn complex processes to navigate critical procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Strong organization skills and an ability to prioritize.
- Willingness to occasionally work overtime if needed.
- Able to work in office three days per week \- hybrid work environment.
- An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.
