We bring clarity, structure, and calm to complex financial environments through hands‑on accounting, workflow design, and operational support. The firm is growing quickly, and this role is a foundational hire that will directly expand our capacity and impact.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, detail‑oriented Operations \& Accounting Assistant to support day‑to‑day QuickBooks work, administrative coordination, and general firm operations. This is a part‑time role with meaningful exposure to real‑world accounting, multi‑entity workflows, and small‑business operations. As REFS grows, the role will expand into more responsibility, autonomy, and long‑term stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily and weekly accounting tasks in QuickBooks Online
  • Assist with reconciliations, transaction categorization, and vendor management
  • Maintain organized digital files, documents, and workflow checklists
  • Help coordinate client onboarding materials and recurring deliverables
  • Track deadlines, follow up on open items, and keep operations running smoothly
  • Provide general administrative support (scheduling, document prep, light research)
  • Support internal workflow improvements as the firm scales
  • Ideal Candidate

  • Experience with
  • QuickBooks Online (or willingness to learn quickly)

  • Strong organizational instincts and comfort managing details
  • Clear communicator who follows through and asks smart questions
  • Comfortable working independently with guidance
  • Interested in accounting, operations, or small‑business management
  • Professional, discreet, and able to handle sensitive financial information

    * 10–20 hours per week to start, flexible scheduling

  • Hybrid: remote work with occasional in‑person collaboration
  • As REFS grows, this role can expand into:
  • Full bookkeeping ownership for select clients
  • Operations management
  • Workflow and systems oversight
  • A permanent, higher‑responsibility position

Compensation

Hourly rate commensurate with experience, with potential for performance‑based increases as responsibilities grow.

Pay: $30\.00 \- $75\.00 per hour

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Darnestown, MD 20874
