### Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail\-oriented Associate Biologist to support environmental and ecological projects across Guam. This role involves assisting with field surveys, data collection and analysis, technical reporting, and regulatory compliance efforts.

The ideal candidate is adaptable, safety\-conscious, and passionate about environmental stewardship, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in dynamic field and office settings.

### Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting biological field surveys, including vegetation mapping, wildlife monitoring, and habitat assessments
  • Collect, manage, and interpret ecological and environmental data using GPS, GIS, and field tools
  • Support preparation of technical reports, including biological assessments, environmental impact analyses, and permitting documentation
  • Assist in monitoring ecological restoration and mitigation projects
  • Ensure all data collection and reporting comply with applicable federal, local, and territorial environmental regulations
  • Support senior biologists and project managers with field coordination, logistics, and deliverables
  • Maintain accurate and organized field records and documentation
  • Participate in safety briefings and adhere to all safety protocols during field and office work
  • Interface with regulatory agencies (e.g., Guam EPA, Department of Agriculture, U.S. Fish \& Wildlife Service) under supervision
  • Collaborate on projects involving military installations, community stakeholders, and environmental partners
  • ### Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in biological fieldwork, environmental consulting, or ecological restoration (internships may be considered)
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations such as NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, and the Clean Water Act
  • Basic proficiency in GIS, GPS data collection, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in physically demanding outdoor environments under varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain base access/clearances as required
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in tropical or island ecosystems
  • Familiarity with Guam’s environmental regulations, permitting processes, and native species
  • Experience supporting federally funded or Department of Defense (DoD) projects
  • ### Core Competencies

  • Understanding of habitat restoration and conservation principles
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Detail\-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • ### Work Environment

  • Fieldwork in tropical environments including forests, wetlands, savannas, and coastal areas
  • Exposure to high humidity, heat, insects, and rugged terrain
  • Occasional marine or intertidal work (may require water entry or boat access)
  • Office work includes data analysis, report writing, mapping, and coordination tasks

### Physical Demands

This role requires moderate to strenuous physical activity, including hiking, lifting and carrying equipment (20–50 lbs), and working extended hours in outdoor conditions. Candidates must be able to stand, walk, and operate in uneven or rugged terrain for prolonged periods.

### Work Schedule

Full\-time

Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Additional hours may be required based on fieldwork, project deadlines, or weather conditions

### Travel

Limited travel may be required depending on project needs, including occasional travel to remote field sites or nearby islands.
