Database Administrator (DBA)

### Role Summary
The Database Administrator is the manager and technical architect of the district’s Student Information System (SIS). This role is critical to the district's operations, as it ensures the integrity of student and staff data, is responsible for state reporting requirements, and manages the lifecycle of student records. Working in a high\-synergy partnership with the Data Systems Integration Specialist to ensure data flows seamlessly between the Student Information System and all third\-party platforms.
State Reporting \& Compliance (DESE)
- Manage and certify all state\-mandated collections, including SIMS, SCS, EPIMS, and SSDR.
- Ensure data accuracy for specialized student populations (SPED, 504, ELL, METCO) and track graduation/dropout rates.
- Oversee biennial Civil Rights reporting and annual School Attending Children reports.
- Generate and assign New SASIDs for kindergarten and incoming students.
- Execute the annual database rollover to the new school year.
- Maintain and update critical plugins and automated connections to third\-party systems.
- Manage user security groups and permissions for all staff across district platforms.
- Manage the PowerSchool Enrollment process, including the creation and testing of annual registration forms.
- Provide training for new teachers and administrative assistants on PowerSchool SIS and PowerTeacher Pro.
- Work with the Data System Integration Specialist to coordinate parent portal access, including account creation and help\-desk support.
- Perform ongoing audits of student and staff records to ensure alignment with state requirements.
- Import diverse data sets, including MCAS scores, staff attendance, and teacher evaluations.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting as needed.
- Knowledge of Analytics \& Insights, a component of PowerSchool, is preferred.
- Payment integration within SIS.
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3\+ years of database management experience.
- Previous experience working in K\-12 education is highly preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and resolve issues.
- As needed, provide training to teachers, principals, and staff on how to use systems.
- Collaboratively work with stakeholders to create schedules and other duties as required.
- Skill in explaining technical problems and solutions to non\-technical users.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all staff on a daily basis.
System Administration \& Interoperability
Scheduling \& Grading Oversight
* School Scheduling: Work in collaboration with school administration the master scheduling process, including course catalogs, student requests, and grade reporting for multiple terms.
* Grading: Manage grade entry windows, store grades for all levels (Q1\-Q4, S1\-S2, T1\-T3\), and process honor rolls and transcripts.

Qualifications:
### Student Information System \& Technical Skills
* System Administration: Expert at managing student information systems, including user access, security, and the End\-of\-Year (EOY) rollover. PowerSchool preferred.
* Data Management: Strong SQL skills for querying databases, creating custom reports, and handling mass data imports/exports.
* Integrations: Experience linking PowerSchool to third\-party apps (like Clever, ClassLink, and Google Workspace).

* State Reporting: Proven ability to accurately extract and submit required data.
