REPORT TO: Director of Special EducationJOB MISSION: To support the effective and compliant operation of the Special Education Department by ensuring timely processing of special education referrals, evaluations, meetings, and records in accordance with DESE and federal regulations. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1\.Perform clerical duties including filing, data entry, and typing. 2\. Maintain and update Special Education databases, including IEP grids, dates, SIMS elements, and other required data systems.3\.
Maintain department spreadsheets related to special education referrals, evaluations, and compliance tracking in alignment with DESE guidance.4\. Process Special Education consent forms and ensure timely follow\-up.5\. Schedule initial and annual IEP Team meetings for in district and private school students. 6\.Prioritize and coordinate referrals for School Psychologists and other evaluation team members.
7 Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians, students, staff, and external agencies using appropriate methods.8\.Manages, updates, and organizes information relevant to department operation.9 Maintain confidential student records in strict compliance with Department of Education and Special Education regulations. 10\.Ensure accurate record\-keeping and secure handling of sensitive student and family information.11\. Knowledgeable in Word, Excel, Powerschool, and Google Docs12\. Assist with special projects and tasks related to departmental priorities.
13 .Provides support to the Director of Special Education, as needed.
