Instructional Designer (Entry Level / Early Career)
Position overview
The Instructional Designer supports the development and maintenance of learning materials that help internal teams and customers effectively understand and use our products, tools, and processes. This is an early‑career, development‑focused role centered on collaborating closely with subject matter experts and internal partners to gather information, translate content into learner‑ready materials, and update existing learning assets.
This role has very limited facilitation responsibilities and is primarily focused on content development, documentation, and instructional support under the guidance of senior instructional designers and learning leaders.
What you will do
Instructional content development
- Develop and update learning materials such as eLearning modules, slide decks, job aids, quick reference guides, and facilitator materials using provided standards and templates.
- Translate information gathered from subject matter experts into clear, structured, learner‑friendly content.
- Apply foundational instructional design principles and guidance when building or updating learning assets.
- Maintain and revise existing training content to reflect product updates, process changes, or feedback.
- Work closely with subject matter experts, product teams, and internal stakeholders to gather content, clarify requirements, and document workflows or system functionality.
- Participate in structured intake discussions and working sessions to capture learning needs and source materials.
- Incorporate feedback from peers and stakeholders and make revisions to learning content accordingly.
- Partner with senior instructional designers to ensure content aligns with learning objectives and design standards.
- Provide logistical and content support for virtual or in‑person training sessions as needed.
- Occasionally deliver small portions of training, demos, or walk‑throughs with preparation and guidance.
- This role is not expected to independently facilitate full training sessions, however this role can grow into this responsibility in the future.
- Assist with collecting learner feedback, completion data, and basic assessment results.
- Support updates to learning content based on evaluation results and guidance from senior team members.
- Upload, organize, and maintain learning materials in the LMS or learning platforms.
- Follow established documentation, version control, and content management processes.
- 0–2 years of experience in instructional design, training development, learning support, or a related field (internships, practicums, or academic projects count).
- Foundational understanding of instructional design and adult learning concepts.
- Experience creating learning materials such as presentations, job aids, documentation, and eLearning content.
- Strong written communication skills and ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into clear learning materials.
- Comfort collaborating closely with subject matter experts to gather and clarify information.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established standards, templates, and processes.
- Openness to feedback and iterative development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Sciences, Communications, Graphic Design or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Exposure to instructional design models such as ADDIE or SAM.
- Familiarity with any eLearning authoring tools (Articulate, Rise, Captivate, or similar).
- Experience documenting technical processes, systems, or workflows.
- Familiarity with virtual learning platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
- Interest in growing into a mid‑level instructional design role over time.
- Bilingual English/French is an asset but not required.

The starting salary is anticipated between $21\.50 and $26\.50 an hour and will be commensurate with experience.
