Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
  • Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; accurately document findings in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper techniques and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
  • Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or memory impairments through memory care techniques and Alzheimer’s care protocols.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to deliver comprehensive care in diverse settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, post\-acute care, behavioral health units, and pediatric units like PICU or neonatal care.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care or wound management to prevent infections in sterile environments.
  • Assist with medical procedures such as phlebotomy or specimen collection when trained and authorized.
  • Support patients with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs by implementing personalized care plans that promote dignity and independence.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient information including medical records, vital signs, and medication administration details using EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Home \& Community Care platforms.
  • Follow all safety protocols related to infectious disease control and Level I trauma center standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Skills

  • Proven experience working in critical care environments such as ICU, Level II trauma centers, or emergency departments with a strong understanding of physiology and anatomy.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures including medical documentation, medical terminology, and EHR/Epic systems.
  • Experience providing specialized dementia or Alzheimer’s care within memory or behavioral health units.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy procedures accurately while maintaining aseptic technique standards.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring patient confidentiality at all times during patient service activities.
  • Skilled in using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts safely for patient transfers; comfortable working with individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges.
  • Strong caregiving skills demonstrated through experience in geriatrics, pediatrics—including PICU—and home \& community care settings.
  • Competence in vital signs measurement, medication administration support, and basic life support (BLS).
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams across outpatient clinics, inpatient units, and post\-acute care facilities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to high\-pressure situations typical of hospital medicine or urgent care environments while maintaining compassionate patient\-centered care.
