POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice Principal provides high\-level instructional leadership and administrative support to the Middle School Principal to promote the educational development of all students and staff. This role is responsible for leading, directing, and supervising a variety of personnel and programs while fostering a collaborative environment between teachers, students, and families. Key responsibilities include managing daily school operations, mentoring and evaluating staff, and actively participating in the district’s Multi\-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) initiatives. The Vice Principal upholds the district’s Code of Character Conduct and Support and serves as the chief administrator in the Principal’s absence. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in:
- Principal/Assistant Principal (Grades 5\-8\)
- SEI Endorsement for Administrators
- Assist the Principal in developing, implementing, and monitoring instructional programs and revising curriculum to ensure academic proficiency.
- Participate in school\-wide and district\-wide committees to advance educational programming and equity initiatives.
- Apply knowledge of current research and theory to coach staff and improve classroom instruction.
- Monitor and interact with students and families regarding academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Administer student behavior policies, assisting teachers with complex disciplinary issues and upholding the Code of Character Conduct.
- Participate in the Special Education team evaluation process and coordinate student activities, field trips, and enrichment programs.
- Supervise, direct, and evaluate staff members as directed by the Principal.
- Coordinate staff development activities and mentor personnel to reach their fullest potential.
- Oversee the development and administration of the school safety plan and assist in the administration of state and district\-required testing (MCAS, etc.).
- Prepare administrative reports, manage ancillary staff schedules, and represent the Principal in their absence.
- Plan and implement staff development and in\-service training for special education and regular education personnel.
- Assist in developing district/school professional development programs and deliver or facilitate workshops and job\-embedded activities.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, caregivers, staff, and the community in an equitable and culturally proficient manner.

- The performance of this job will be evaluated as per the Framingham Administrators Association (Unit B) Contract.
- Supervises and evaluates instructional and support staff, including teachers, educational support, and administrative personnel
- This position is classified as Exempt (Salaried).
- Covered under the Framingham Administrators Association (Unit B) Contract.
- Work Year: 200 days (Ten\-Months)
- The District reserves the right to transfer personnel as needed.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Framingham Public Schools seeks candidates whose background, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of education.
* Educational Requirement: A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the area of major study or a related field.
* Professional Experience: A minimum of five (5\) years of successful teaching experience in a diverse learning environment.
* Leadership Experience: At least three (3\) years of demonstrated experience in a leadership capacity, such as teacher leadership, leading professional learning opportunities, or active involvement in school/district visioning and strategic improvement planning.
* Language Proficiency: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is strongly preferred.

* Organizational Management: Work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage several projects simultaneously while maintaining strong organizational skills to balance the demands of a multi\-tasking position.
* Compliance \& Confidentiality: Perform duties with awareness of district requirements, state and federal laws, and Framingham Public Schools policies. Maintain appropriate confidential records in accordance with FERPA/603 CMR 28\.00\.
* Instructional Leadership: Apply knowledge of current research and theory in the educational field. Demonstrate strong teaching, coaching, and leadership skills in a team setting.
* Technology: Operate and acquire skills in computer software, including Google Workspace, and use instructional technology appropriately to facilitate learning.
* Developmental Interaction: Ability to interact with early childhood students at their eye level, which includes frequently sitting, stooping, or kneeling.
* Regulatory Expertise: Specialized knowledge of IDEA and Massachusetts special education regulations (603 CMR 28\.00\) to ensure strict legal compliance.
* Clinical Interpretation: Ability to interpret complex evaluative reports and medical data to inform IEP development and student placement.

* Crisis Management \& Safety: Directly responsible for the safety of students; may be required to perform physical de\-escalation or approved restraint (e.g., Safety\-Care) in accordance with district training. Must be prepared to react professionally during high\-stress behavioral or social\-emotional crises.
