Snake River Correctional Institution is seeking a dedicated Administrative Specialist 1 to join our Education Services team.

About the Job – Your Role

In this vital role, you’ll help coordinate educational resources and technology services that support AICs on their path to personal growth and successful reentry. You’ll assist with the daily operations of the education department, managing computer labs, coordinating college classes, and overseeing the use of laptops for AICs enrolled in educational programs. This position works closely with students, instructors, DOC staff, and partner colleges to ensure smooth program delivery and reliable technology access within a secure environment.

As an Administrative Specialist 1, you’ll develop procedures and systems for computer lab use, laptop checkouts, and classroom operations. You’ll orient new students to the available technology, provide assistance with accessing laptops and software, and ensure classrooms and labs are ready for daily use. Your responsibilities will include accurately entering student records, attendance, and progress into DOC databases, proctoring exams, monitoring laptop inventory, and overseeing computer lab security. You’ll work alongside DOC and college IT teams to troubleshoot online classes and help AICs complete important forms like FAFSA and college applications.

In this role, you’ll also supervise and train AIC tutors and clerks, coordinate callouts and class schedules, and support the application and approval process for educational and vocational programs. Additionally, you’ll gather data, compile reports, and maintain up\-to\-date documentation to track program participation and outcomes. Minimum Qualifications

Two (2\) years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data;

OR

An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data;

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast\-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply rules, policies, and procedures related to technology use, security, and education programs.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication for professional correspondence, reporting, and instructional purposes.
  • Experience assisting individuals with technology, software orientation, and troubleshooting basic computer issues.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and report program data and statistics.

  • Working Conditions

    Regular attendance is an essential function required to meet the demands of this job and to provide necessary services.

    The work schedule will be Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

    Work is performed in an adult correctional facility and has daily interactions with AIC’s. Possible encounters with abusive/hostile AIC’s pose a risk of personal injury and/or being taken hostage and death. Exposure to materials of graphic nature, and to dangerous situations does exist.

    Work includes extended sitting time at a computer terminal, involvement in telephone and video conversations, writing various documents, data entry, bending, lifting, stooping, and stretching

    About the Process – What to Expect
