We are expanding and looking for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial professional who can help grow the company while delivering excellent technical writing and client support.

Position Overview
The Business Development \& Technical Writer will play a key role in supporting both the growth and operations of GAFS Co. This position blends technical writing, proposal development, grant research, client engagement, and business development.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer, organized project manager, and outgoing professional who enjoys attending events, meeting new clients, and helping organizations secure funding.
This is a hands\-on role where the successful candidate will contribute directly to proposal development while also helping expand the firm’s client base. 40% travel time is expected.
Key Responsibilities
Grant \& Proposal Writing
- Draft and edit grant applications, RFP responses, and technical proposals
- Conduct funding research and identify relevant grant opportunities
- Coordinate proposal components including narratives, budgets, attachments, and compliance requirements
- Manage proposal timelines and ensure all deadlines are met
- Review and edit documents for clarity, compliance, and competitiveness
- Represent GAFS Co. at networking events, conferences, and industry meetings
- Assist with identifying new clients and partnership opportunities
- Support marketing and outreach efforts to municipalities, nonprofits, and organizations
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and partners
- Attend conferences, workshops, and trade shows throughout South Florida
- Assist with booth setup and event logistics
- Engage with potential clients and communicate GAFS Co. services
- Follow up with leads and support business development efforts
- Assist with client coordination and project tracking
- Support internal systems for proposal management and deadlines
- Help manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree or 10\+ years experience in federal funding
- Strong technical writing and editing skills
- Experience with grant writing, proposal writing, RFPs, or technical documentation
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast\-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Must reside in South Florida
- Ability to attend events and conferences throughout the region and out\-of\-state
- Ability to lift and transport materials up to 50 lbs for event setup
- Experience writing government grants or public sector proposals
- Familiarity with federal, state, or foundation funding programs
- Experience with business development or client engagement
- Background in public administration, government finance, policy, or related fields
