Decker Griffel, LLC, is a civil litigation law firm, with an emphasis on Social Security disability law, seeking a well\-organized, dependable, and personable colleague to serve as a PART\-TIME office assistant in our close but growing Albuquerque, NM Office.

The right person for this position shares our vision of working smart and with a sense of urgency, so we can all head home at the close of business stress\-free and with knowledge that our work tasks, although ongoing and extensive, are well in hand.

Essential Duties of the Job:

  • Data entry, including into our case and document management software
  • Mail processing, both electronic and paper \- sorting, saving, logging, delivering, and sending
  • Scanning, faxing, filing, and uploading documents
  • Order, follow up on, and pay invoices for, medical records
  • Schedule appointments, depositions, etc.
  • Docket calendared events
  • Open, sort, scan, and close case files
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Prepare and send online forms to Clients, as well as forms for internal Firm use
  • Backup answering and transferring phones for our virtual receptionist and case manager, including to perform initial intake interviews with prospective clients
  • Running errands and making deliveries to external parties
  • Collecting, filing and organizing office documents, such as reports and confidential records
  • Managing digital document filing, including encrypted documents and email correspondence
  • Interaction with attorneys, case managers, and other staff
  • Other duties as assigned by attorneys and management, including other general office duties
  • Pay: $15 \- $17 per hour depending on experience

    Schedule:

  • 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday \- Friday
  • PTO \- 1 hr of paid leave for every 30 hours actually worked
  • Holiday Pay when the office is closed in observance of certain holidays
  • Qualifications:

    A successful file clerk/office assistant within our firm should meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Superb organizational and time management skills to include meticulous attention to detail
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality
  • Must be self\-motivated and able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Outstanding attendance and punctuality.
  • Type at least 60 words per minute
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Teamwork capacity to include ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the department and the organization in general
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, including to interface with clients who are literally mentally and/or physically ill and thus not feeling/acting their best
  • Write and speak with proper grammar and punctuation
  • General knowledge of PC computers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Aptitude and appetite for learning how to use computer software and office equipment that may be new to you, including but not limited to copy machines, scanners, PDF software, telephones, transcription machines
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with policy and procedures
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to understand, analyze, and evaluate situations and exercise good judgment to make appropriate decisions
  • Fluency speaking and writing Spanish, as well as prior legal/office experience, is preferred but not required.
