  • At Chemeketa, the Hiring \& Talent Management Coordinator does more than just fill seats—they help shape the very fabric of our workforce. Reporting to the HR Operations Manager, this pivotal role leads the daily operations of the college’s end\-to\-end recruitment and search processes to ensure a high\-quality experience for every candidate. We are specifically seeking an experienced collaborator who brings fresh ideas and innovative solutions to help us revamp our hiring process. Our goal is to move away from complexity and bring our department up to date with the most effective, modern hiring practices.

    As a key member of our HR Administrative Team, you will balance high\-level strategy with the essential daily operations that elevate the employee experience from day one. The ideal candidate will possess robust experience within a Human Resources department, specifically handling recruitment, hiring, and onboarding. This position requires constant collaboration, strong project coordination skills, and a comprehensive understanding of employment law. Additionally, you will serve as a leader and supervisor for the Recruitment \& Onboarding Specialist, so previous supervisory experience is a minimum qualification.     DUTIES \& RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaboration \& Communication

  • Regularly meets with hiring managers one\-on\-one and in group settings to guide, coach, consult and advise on all areas of recruitment, hiring and onboarding.
  • Leads the creation of a recruiting and interviewing plan for each open position.
  • Conducts regular follow\-up with managers to provide updates and determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation.
  • Researches, develops, recommends, and implements new and creative sources and techniques for active and passive candidate recruiting.
  • Maintains appropriate Intranet and Internet sites.
  • Assists with the design and delivery of workshop/training programs and provides information regarding employment with Chemeketa.
  • Schedules and participates in job fairs and potential applicant outreach.
  • Search Committee \& Interview Coordination

  • Coordinates interviews and provides administration of applicable testing.
  • Works collaboratively with the Office of Culture \& Community Engagement to plan recruitment searches and ensure committees and processes meet college guidelines.
  • Hiring

  • Direct all daily operations of the recruitment and hiring lifecycle to ensure organizational efficiency.
  • Lead the creation, maintenance, and auditing of all new\-hire personnel files and onboarding documentation.
  • Interpret and implement Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) language throughout the hiring process.
  • Design and manage the end\-to\-end architecture for reference checks, background screenings, and pre\-employment vetting.
  • Manage the collection and analysis of recruitment data for Affirmative Action reporting and internal strategic reviews.
  • Ensure total organizational compliance by maintaining expert knowledge of all applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Supervise the secure lifecycle of confidential records, including data entry, indexing, and the legally compliant destruction of sensitive screenings.
  • Department Responsibilities

  • Serves as expert in all levels of recruitment
  • Provides all aspects of supervision to recruitment team
  • Works closely with the Classification and Compensation team to assist in position description management.
  • Works closely within the Operations team to assist in the full\-cycle of the hiring process to include appropriate notification of shareholders, onboarding, and disseminating accurate information.
  • Interprets college policies, practices, and procedures to make appropriate referrals, responses, or recommendations
  • Participation in departmental and/or college meetings, committees and workgroups

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School Diploma/GED

    \-AND\-

    At least 2 years of supervisory experience

    \-AND\-

    At least 4 years of experience developing and implementing employee recruitment and overseeing hiring processes as part of a Human Resources department

    \-OR\-

    Associate Degree in Office Administration or related field

    \-AND\-

    At least 1 year of supervisory experience

    \-AND\-

    At least 2 years of experience developing and implementing employee recruitment and overseeing hiring processes as part of a Human Resources department

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience providing consultative guidance to hiring managers and department heads on recruitment strategy, search committee best practices, and selection issues
  • At least 3 years of experience coordinating full\-cycle recruitment within a higher education environment, including qualifying candidates and navigating academic hiring cycles
  • Experience supervising a team of 5 or more staff members, including performance management, professional development, and workload distribution
  • Experience with serving as an administrator for an applicant tracking system such as Workday, NEOED, or similar
  • Demonstrated relevant project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing relevant training
  • Demonstrated ability to use established institutional classification systems to design recruitment plans, salary offers, and hiring policies
  • Experience developing and implementing initiatives in support of organizational values, and equal opportunity

  • SCHEDULE \& MODALITY

    This position is not eligible for remote/hybrid work. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is a 100%, 12\-month exempt assignment of the C1 band and grade
  • This position has a 1\-year probationary period
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations
  • Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
  • Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Sedentary Work:Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.
