JOB SUMMARY
The INSET Family Liaison offers peer support to adults who may have substantial mental health support needs that put them at risk of homelessness, hospitalization, involuntary treatment, or other adversity. The Family Liaison supports participants to connect or reconnect with family, chosen family, and other natural supports, with the participant's consent, to assist in meeting their goals. The Family Liaison will offer services such as advocacy, connecting families with services, conflict resolution, psychoeducation, and individualized support through a framework that supports shared decision\-making, collaboration, trauma\-informed care, and cultural humility/respect. The schedule for this part\-time role is flexible within limits and will be negotiated at the time of hire. Estimated weekly hours are between 16 and 30 hours per week, depending on negotiated schedule and program needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Establish and maintain contact with families, chosen families, and other natural supports in collaboration with INSET participants
Support participants and their families/natural supports in accessing appropriate services based on indicated needs and wants
Advocate with and for participants and families, and support skill\-building activities related to understanding and navigating systems
Engage participants and their families/natural supports through shared decision\-making to promote self\-efficacy alongside chosen supports
Support families in strengthening caregiving skills and access to community resources and connections
Collaborate with community agencies to explore possibilities in program expansion to better serve the needs of families
Documentation of in\-person and virtual engagements with participants in accordance with affiliated documentation site
Attend and contribute to team meetings, individual supervision, and agency trainings/meetings.
Other duties assigned as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1\. Personal automobile insurance is required and is the sole responsibility of employee. Insurance coverage is detailed in the policy manual and must be adhered to as written.
2\. Obtaining and maintaining peer certification is the responsibility of the employee.
3\. Performs other duties as assigned.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK AND DECISION MAKING:
Works in accordance with policies and regulations which may require judgment, initiative, creativity and the ability to deal with complex factors and make decisions based on conclusions for which there may be little precedent. Seeks supervisory input as appropriate.
AUTONOMY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Works under the supervision of the INSET Program Director. Follows state regulations regarding program guidance and compliance. Reads and understands program policy manual and requests clarification when needed.
Works from general objectives (such as governmental and agency compliance standards) and broad and varying policies, procedures, rules or precedents with significant functional guidance. Refers specific cases to manager for clarification or interpretation. Review by manager focuses on achievement of the objective and not necessarily on the means, except when required to ensure compliance with regulations.
TECHNOLOGY, EQUIPMENT OR TOOLS:
Beginning to intermediate skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Evidence of skills demonstrated by the ability to perform all the basic functions within each program; including but not limited to maintaining a calendar, sending and keeping up to date with emails, creating letters, etc. Must be proficient in utilizing various computer systems for Data Entry. Familiarity working with an Electronic Health Record a plus. General office equipment is used including fax/copy/scanning machine, laptop, and cell phone. Upon your termination of employment with ROME, your equipment including your company laptop, cell phone, and chargers must be returned to your Program Manager.

Work follows established practices and operating procedures with some latitude for independent judgment. May occasionally lift to (35\) thirty\-five pounds, without mechanical assistance. Work involves sitting, standing, driving, climbing stairs, and ambulating from task to task. The noise level in the work environment is usually light, but there is a shared office space with open cubicles.
Services are provided in the community and/or a participant's home under general circumstances. Telehealth services may be provided when allowable under NYS guidelines.
EDUCATION \& EXPERIENCE:
Holds a New York Peer Specialist Certification (NYCPS or NYCPS\-P), Family Peer Advocate, or related certification/credential or be eligible and willing to obtain one within the first 3 months of hiring.
2 years of related work experience in mental health advocacy or peer support, work in a mental health or substance use field, advocacy for families of individuals in the mental health system, or a bachelor's degree in a related field
NYS Driver's license and insured vehicle ($100,000 \- $300,000 in Liability on your personal vehicle).

Ability and knowledge to de\-escalate clients and comfort working with clients who have extensive substance use, mental health, physical health, and economic challenges in their home and community environments.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills pertaining to the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and other applicable applications
Understanding and knowledge of HIPAA and privacy rights regarding participants' confidential information
Demonstrates good organizational skills, including planning and scheduling expertise
Willingness to continuously learn and develop skills as they pertain to the needs of the agency and position
Staff should have or obtain knowledge in the following areas within the first 90 days of employment: disability accommodations and assistive technology, insurance \& entitlements, substance use and mental health recovery resources in county, etc.
Wage: $31\.56 per hour Part Time three 7\.5 hour days per week
