Job Duties:

Our Finance Accounting Office is looking for an enthusiastic person to come join the team. If you like working with numbers and tables then this position might just be right for you.

  • Monitor, track, audit and process reoccurring customer and employee financial transactions for a department or division to ensure accurate and timely recording of data by developing and analyzing reports, transmitting files, performing reconciliations, summarizing financial information, documenting and recommending needed changes, 2 troubleshooting issues, adjusting, researching, and resolving problems/errors/omissions.
  • Create, review and maintain financial worksheets and regular reports to support city staff, department, and/or external agencies.
  • Communicate with city employees, vendors, external agencies, and internal and/or external customers regarding accounts, services, managing of budgeted funds, discussing and resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance federal, state, and city regulations and policies.
  • Manage the collection of account receivables and/or payables by creating and processing invoices, collecting and recording payments, and maintaining customer financial agreements.
  • Responsible for managing the auditing of travel reimbursements, employee reimbursements, and change funds.
  • Will be in charge of processing unclaimed property, recording sales tax revenues, and preparing statistical tables.
  • This position will assist with the preparation for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) to ensure compliance with ADA accessibility requirements.
  • Special projects maybe assigned.
  • Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads.
  • This position is eligible for a Hybrid remote work schedule.

    Minimum Requirements:

    MINIMUMS: Requires any combination of education above a GED and/or experience equivalent to four (4\) years in a field such as account clerk utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short\-term department needs and/or City\-wide emergencies.

    Preferences:

    The selected candidate will have:

    Experience producing and auditing complex reports

    Experience creating and processing invoices, recording payments and maintaining customer financial agreements

    Experience with working for local or state government

    Experience working with an Enterprise System

    Familiar with Annual Comprehensive Report

    Experience with unclaimed property processing

VRS Contribution: All full\-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre\-tax payroll deduction.
